Bright and beautiful for parkrunners at Rhos – plus NW round-up of results

It was another bright and beautiful Saturday morning at the Llandrillo yn Rhos 5k parkrun, which again attracted numerous first timers and visitors, with many recording some excellent finishing times along this picturesque promenade route.
Armon Williams was the first finisher overall with an outstanding performance and a new course PB in just 17 minutes and 15 seconds, with Jeremy Pena second in 1814, and JM15-17 athlete Eban Jones third with a new course PB in 18.28.
The ladies results quite amazingly confirmed that nine out of the first ten finishers all recorded new course PBs, with international athlete and top coach Rhian Roxburgh (GOG Triathlon) leading her rivals home (in 8th place overall) with a new PB in 19.37, and first in her VW50 age cat
She was very closely followed by her talented club colleague Vicky Cole in 10th place in 19.39, and she won her VW45 cat, then Cheryl Frost (NWRRC) with a new PB in 22.21, and she won her VW60 age cat. *There were 387 finishers at Rhos, including a large party of runners from Blackburn.

*NWRRC entered six members at the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun and they celebrated with five new course PBs. Mal Preece led the team home in 11th place, and he won his VM60 age cat with a determined effort and a new course PB in 19.50. He was followed by Cheryl Frost in 42nd place, and she won her VW60 age cat and recorded a new PB in 22.21.
Steve Mason continued his spectacular recovery to finish 64th with a new PB in 23.18, and Kay Hatton – just off the plane from her holiday - was second in the same age cat as Cheryl with a new PB in 23.34. Master vet Don Hale also claimed a new course PB in 27.02, and he was second in his VM70 age cat in 152nd place, and Elizabeth Driscoll and her dog Winston finished in 60.06.
*GOG Triathlon entered eleven members with Simon Cole 9th overall and their first club athlete back in 19.38, with his wife and club colleague Vicky Cole 11th in 29.39, whilst Geran Hughes was 16th in 20.19.
*Porth Eirias Runners (PER) had four members involved, with Barry Palmer 76th with a new course PB in 23.59, Pedro Gaspar 97th in 24.51, Zara Parry 246th with a new PB in 31.39, and tail walker Kevin Edge was 371st in 48.46.
*Other results of note at Rhos included: (27) Rhys Pugh 21.27; (31) Gareth Southworth second VM60 in 21.59; (33) Simon Nixon (Denbigh Harriers) won his VM65 age cat in 22.09; (38) Marcus Jones 22.17; (54) Steve Owen (GOG Triathlon) 22.49: (62) Darren Dentith 23.16 and second in his VM50 age cat; (66) Tristan Owen 23.23; (74/75) Lucas and Iain Burgess in 23.55; (83) Daniel Owens and his guide Guy Salked, with Daniel recording a new course PB of 24.13; (120) Mike Pemberton 26.01; and (189) Caitlin Owen (GOG Triathlon) 28.39.

*The start of last Saturday's Conwy parkrun (*above) and below left - Sam Fernhart - who was the first finisher at Conwy - with Carla Green, and Dave Hughes who celebrated his 39th birthday.
*Conwy parkrun : Plenty of visitors at the Conwy parkrun on Saturday, where six out of the first ten finishers were all first timers, including debutant Sam Fernhart who was the first finisher in 17.02, with Lloyd Owen second with a new PB of 19.32, and Thomas Sylvester (Dragon RC Sale) third on his course debut in 20.06.
*Anna Drinkwater (Eryri Harriers) was the first female finisher (15th overall) in 22.06, and Emma Farquhar (Liverpool Running Bugs) was second on her debut in 22.32, with Carla Green (NWRRC) third in 23.00.
*Rob Fryer - above left - with Sandy Johnston, and John Stallard.
*NWRRC entered four members and they each won their respective age categories. Paul Aubert was the club’s first finisher in 12th place overall with a new course PB in 21.25, and he won his VM45 cat; with Carla Green 26th, and she won her VW50 cat in 23.00. Super vet Sandy Johnston made a welcome return to action after injury, and he ran well in 56th place, and he won his VM75 cat in 25.44; whilst master vet Rob Fryer won his VM70 cat in 63rd place in 26.30.
*Other local runners of note included: (7) Josh Keogh on his course debut in 20.50; (9) Josh Mottram 20.52, and he won his SM18-19 age cat; (13) Gwyn Williams (Colwyn Bay) who won his VM55 age cat; (21) Ian Taylor (Colwyn Bay) 22.42 and 3rd VM55; (32) Michelle Farrell (GOG Triathlon) 23.32 and she won her VW40 cat; (38) John Farrell (GOG Triathlon) 24.01 and he finished 2nd in his VM60 cat; (46) Sian Beck (Prestatyn RC) 24.34; (52) Dave Hughes, who celebrated his birthday in 25.26; (86) John Stallard 28.41; (123) Pam Grant 32.52.
*Alderford: NWRRC ultra-distance couple Ben and Sarah Hudson made their course debuts in the Alderford Lake parkrun in Shropshire last Saturday as a warm-up for their Pulford 10k the next day, and both won their respective V45 age categories. Ben finished in 8th place overall in 23.04, and Sarah also ran well in 28th place in 26.30, and she was the 6th female finisher.
*Penrhyn: The first finisher at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun remained unknown at the time of writing, but visitor Dawn Ramsey was second overall on her course debut in 18.29, with Iolo Owen third in 18.41. *And with Dawn also being the first female finisher, JW11-14 athlete Fiona Horne took the second spot with a new course PB of 20.54, and Ellie Evans(Cybi Striders) was third in 22.31. *There were 219 finishers in total at Penrhyn.
*Will Williams (NWRRC) 12th, and second in his VM50 age cat in 19.39; and there were six runners involved at Penrhyn from Cybi Striders with Ifan Rowlands their first finisher in fourth place overall in 18.44, and Ellie Evans their first female club finisher in 22.31. *There were 164 finishers at Conwy.
*Prestatyn: There was a good turn-out of 241 athletes at the Nova parkrun at Prestatyn where Mathew Baker was the first finisher in 17.15, with teenager Jack Richards second with a new course PB in 19.10, and Sam Ashton third in 19.39. *Erin Williams was the first female finisher in 23.49, with Millie Robinson (Prestatyn RC) a very close second in 23.50, and Lucy Lloyd was third with a new course PB in 24.15.
*Prestatyn RC entered 18 members at Nova, and their first finisher was Daniel Williams, who was fourth overall, in 19.49, with Dafydd Montgomery 8th in 20.21, and Jonathon Puleston-Jones was 10th and their third club finisher in 20.25.
