Report by Juliet  Sidney .   Juliet Sidney from Welsh Masters Athletics has kindly forwarded a brief summary from some of the medal winning successes by her club at Newport Harriers and from Welsh Masters Athletics members who competed in the Masters World Championships in Sweden during August. She confirmed: “A massive congratulations to our FIVE Master athletes who travelled to Sweden with all FIVE coming away with relay medals. After competing in their individual events previously and doing well they were all chosen for relay legs.  “Eleri Jones was the 1st leg in the W40 4 x 100m team winning silver, and she also broke the British record in the process. The talented Great Britain and Welsh international runner has been selected to represent his country in this week’s major competition, which has attracted about fifty of the top duathlon athletes from around the world, who will compete for honours in this prestigious event. Hard and dry again at Conwy parkrun with another bumper entry...plus other results. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was another packed parkrun at Conwy last Saturday where 377 entrants tackled the challenging but picturesque 5k river trail from the RSPB Nature Reserve on a very dry and bumpy course. North Wales Road Runners  had fifteen members involved, and the first club man home was the rapidly improving  Harry Driscoll,  who finished 6th overall in just 19 minutes and 7 seconds, and he was 2nd in his SM20-24 age category. Jonathan Kettle  ran as a pacer for his club colleague  Benjamin Brummitt , who celebrated a new course PB in 10th place in 19.31, and he was 2nd in his SM30 cat, with  Jonathan  11th in 19.33, and he won his VM50 cat.  Steve Bozier  also enjoyed a good run after returning to fitness, and he was 30th overall, and 3rd in his VM45 cat in 21.42.   *Harry Driscoll (*above left), with Benjamin Brummitt, and Jona

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Martin Green led home a team of fourteen North Wales Road Runners at Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning, with another bumper attendance of mixed ability club and social athletes enjoying the warm, dry conditions, along a picturesque 5k riverside route from the RSPB Nature Reserve. Martin  eventually finished in 2nd place overall, and in a very fast encounter, he was just 7-seconds behind the first placed finisher  Jack Jones  on his debut, with Martin recording an excellent time of 17 minutes and 23 seconds, to win his VM45 age cat, and Jack finishing narrowly ahead in 17.16. Sion Thomas  was only five seconds away from celebrating a new PB, but ran well in 24th place in 21.14, and he won his VM40 age cat.  Richard Scama

SEPTEMBER 2024  Licence no OD-24-43 SATURDAY 28th (U11,U13,U15,U17), SUNDAY 29th (U18,U20, Senior, Vets)  We are holding our 12th - End of Season Throws meeting. All throwers will have 6 throws.  The entry fee per competitor will be 1st event £15, each additional event £6.
