Introduction by Don Hale.  Photos and information by Brett Davis/Carey Holick/Joe Horner and Stuart Lynn. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk It was a good turn out by Welsh Masters athletes at the Inter-Area Track & Field challenge at the York Stadium last Sunday, which was hosted by England Masters AA as part of the Outdoors invitation only meeting for area masters' clubs.  Carey Holick, the EMMA Track & Field Secretary, has kindly included the male and female points totals, and the combined totals together. In the end, it was a clean sweep for NMAC who won  both  the male and female titles, plus the combined award. The clubs involved:   1 EMAC – Eastern Masters AC,  2 MMAC – Midland Masters AC,  3 NEMAA – North East Masters AA,  4 NMAC - Northern Masters AC,  5 SVHC - Scottish Veteran Harri...

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Super veteran John Hatton, a well-known local race director and a prolific charity organiser/fundraiser, celebrated his 350th role as a volunteer at the  Penrhyn Castle  parkrun event last Saturday morning. VM80 athlete John, who also represents  North Wales Road Runners  (NWRRC), said he was delighted to have been given the opportunity to reach this parkrun milestone at Penrhyn, and he confirmed: “It was my 350th volunteering opportunity, and I was so thrilled to achieve this number at this particular venue, as they are always so welcoming.” He later helped out with barcode scanning and was also able to witness an exciting fast paced finish by the top three male athletes, which included the first two sharing the exact same times.  Visitor  Daniel...

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Top North Wales triathlete and coach Rhian Roxburgh has been selected to represent Team GB as part of a four-person team to compete this week in the ‘World’s Toughest Challenge,’ and she could win a share of a $100,000 reward. The Llandudno based award-winning all-round endurance athlete is currently travelling to Sweden to take part in the  One Water Race  against nine other rival teams from Australia, France, Canada, Sweden, plus other combined nations teams from 19-21st August, during a gruelling event that will last for about 60-hours non-stop over 5 varied stages The race covers a distance of about 250 km, the equivalent of 6 marathons, and is split up into approximately 200 km running, and 50 km swimming events. Special race report by David Gibson.   * All photos by “ValleyBoyPics.” https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   On Thursday evening of last week, 435 participants ran this popular 5k on the Bay race along the Swansea Bay front between Blackpill and Mumbles, which helped to raise essential funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.  Being one of the fastest – if not the fastest 5k courses in Wales - there were multiple personal bests (PBs) achieved in the warm summer evening, and 78 of the finishers were from the host club – a record turnout with others in supporting roles – and a true team effort! Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Members of North Wales Road Runners took part in their annual team relay challenge last Tuesday night on Llandudno promenade amidst glorious sunshine and very warm conditions. Eighteen runners competed in six teams of three, with their previous average times over 5k estimated to help equalise the competition. The event, which included each runner targeting a specific distance, was well organised by  Carla Green , with support from  John Hatton ,  Elizabeth Driscoll and others , was eventually won by a team consisting of  Gwennan Charlton, Molly Evans, and Kevin Slattery , who finished in an overall time of 28 minutes and 34 seconds. The runners-up team included:  Mark Davies, Richard Scamans, and Molly Evans in a combined time of 28.34,  with all the team finishing quite close...
