Anniversary couple Antony and Sally Brown visited Conwy parkrun during their epic 6,000-mile coastal walk around the UK as they fundraise for several worthy charities.   Report and photo by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Ultra-distance walking couple Antony and Sally Brown from Bude in Cornwall were the surprise guests last Saturday at the Conwy 5k parkrun prior to recommencing their epic 6,000-mile charity walk around the entire coastline of the UK for the RNLI, Cornwall Air Ambulance, and Parkrun.  The friendly fitness enthusiasts contacted the event organisers a couple of days before and received generous support and praise on the day from the two-hundred-plus entrants, with Antony, from the  Newquay and Par Athletics Club , even running the course, and recording an excellent time of just 24 minutes and 5 seconds to finish in 54th place overall. Boxing Day charity sea dip organised by the Lions Club of Llandudno needs your support

The Annual Lions Club of Llandudno Boxing Day Sea Dip is back for the first time since 'Lockdown'. This year 'Swimmers Registration' will be on the promenade in the gazebo's by the old Lifeboat slipway.  If you, or anyone you know, will be taking part this year, do please make sure you register before going into the water. Registration is FREE. The club needs to know how many swimmers are going in so the RNLI and St John Ambulance volunteers are aware of numbers. Llinos completes her 727-mile fundraising challenge for the RNLI Report by Don Hale North Wales athlete Llinos Davies has just completed her ultra-marathon task of completing her 727-mile target for the RNLI as part of their Mayday mile fundraising challenge. The popular GOG Triathlon endurance star swam, cycled, walked, and ran the distance for this worthy cause and welcomed the brief extension of the programme till last weekend 31st May. Llinos proudly explained: ‘I had hoped to raise £1 for every mile but never expected this total distance since 3rd   May. It’s been a total blast. I’ve been out in all weathers, hail storms, rain, wind and sunshine. ‘Thank you to everyone who has donated, and I managed to raise £150 and together GOG Triathlon have raised over £500 for the RNLI. And thank you to all my friends who have accompanied me on these quests. Photographs by Steve Jeffery Four mixed teams of athletes from North Wales Road Runners enjoyed a relay run in the sun last Sunday on Llandudno Promenade as they helped to raise funds for the RNLI as part of their Mayday Mile appeal. *Josh Keogh recorded the fastest mile on the day for the RNLI relay For many of the twenty-one runners, this was their first competitive “live” run for about fifteen months, and thankfully the cool, windy, and rainswept weather of recent days disappeared for a couple of hours to allow everyone to thoroughly enjoy the occasion. Despite this necessary time absence from major events due to Covid-19 restrictions, several club runners still recorded PBs (personal best times), and the event included members aged from 16-70 years of age. *(Above) partially sighted runner Daniel Owens with Carla Green and (below)

Ultra-distance athlete Llinos Davies tackles Welsh Coastal Path for RNLI

Ultra-distance athlete Llinos Davies has hit the trail running again in her bid to raise much needed funds for the RNLI Mayday appeal by jointly tackling 874 miles of the Welsh Coastal Path Llinos from Deganwy began her latest charity challenge at the weekend and intends to reach her incredible target together with fellow GOG members, by  utilising  a combination of swimming, running and cycling. She confirmed: ‘I hope you'll support me in raising much needed funds for the RNLI. Are you able to take part in the Mayday Mile for the RNLI? This special fundraising event is open from now till 16th May and you can run it, walk it, or skip it, but however you do it, help to keep summer safe...and members of the North Wales Road Running Club are planning to do their bit for this worthy cause by completing a series of one-mile dashes on Llandudno prom this Sunday during a special relay challenge.  Several star athletes, fresh from their success last weekend at the Aintree Races, will be displaying their talents, with the event starting close to the RNLI boathouse from 10am.      *Some of the North Wales Road runners team. A Mayday is an urgent call for help. Usually, RNLI lifesavers answer mayday calls and go to rescue others. But this May, with the busiest summer season on the way, it’s they who need YOUR help.
