Gold medals and podium places for a quartet of Road Runners at Abergele.

NWRRC  entered two athletes in both the 5k, and 10 events, and they all recorded unexpected podium places, with two welcome age category victories and impressive gold medals for  Richard Eccles  and  Don Hale  in the 5k, and two third-placed finishes in their respective age cats for  Steve Roberts  and  Mike Hayton  in the latter 10k event.     *Richard Eccles (*above left) with Don Hale. This very popular event, staged on an established ultra-quick course, also included an exciting international match between Welsh Masters and England Masters, with two North Wales Road Runners in  Martin Green  and  Kay Hatton  selected to proudly wear the red vests of Wales. *Kay Hatton (*above left) ran well for the Welsh Masters team, and (*right) Will Williams claimed another 5k PB at the Mid-Cheshire 5k. Photos by   Bryan Dale.   Nine Road runners braved the cold, wet, and windy conditions during the Chester Spring 5-mile race last Wednesday evening and remarkably claimed four podium places. Despite the challenging conditions, including some partially flooded country lanes, the event still attracted some 465 quality club runners over a fast and flat course. Welsh master Martin Green  led the NWRRC team home in 19th place and he was 2nd in his MV45 age cat. The results confirm the relevant gun and chip times for each athlete and Martin ran extremely well again in 27 minutes and 32 seconds (27.31).   *Karl Morris (*above left) with Mal Preece at Chester. Richard Eccles  enjoyed another competitive race finishing 63rd and he was 3rd in his MV55 cat in (31.41/31.39), with  Mal Preece  129th and winning his MV60 age cat in (35.35/35.30).  K

This has been another bumper weekend of excellent results by several NWRRC members on the road.  This is a summary of their exploits: - this includes Kay Hatton winning her age cat at the Liverpool half-marathon, Richard Eccles winning his age cat at the Welshpool 10k, and newcomer Beth Williams competing in the World's Steepest Street Race in Harlech. *Liverpool:  Three NWRRC members travelled to Merseyside last Sunday to take part in the  Liverpool Skyline half-marathon , where veteran  Kay Hatton  deservedly won her F60 age cat with a superb run finishing as the 69th female, and 726th overall out of nearly 3,929 entrants in 1.42.39. Kay was supported at the race by  Kelly Marie Alford  and her partner  Cai Roberts.  Kelly ran well in 1,763rd place in 1.49.44, but sprained her ankle on the last 100 metres, wi

Report by Don Hale.   Martin Green was one of five North Wales Road Runners in the Chester 10k race last Sunday, but this week, he not only represented his club, but he also ran for Wales against England in a combined Masters 10k international event. Once again, he turned in another stunning performance and just missed out on a prestigious podium place finishing 4th in his MV45 age cat in 24th place overall in 33 minutes and 7 seconds. The talented athlete ran amidst a quality field of over 3,000 mixed ability entrants, including top international, club, and social runners, in a highly competitive event. The overall race winner was  Jonny Mellor  in 29.20, with  Omar Ahmed  (Birchfield Harriers) in close pursuit and finishing 2nd in 29.35, followed by  Charlie Hulson  (Deeside AAC) 3rd in 30.09. *Martin Green (*above  left ) with Richard Eccles. Three Road Runners selected for North Wales at Inter-Regions cross country at Monmouth...plus XC and indoor champs updates

*Richard Eccles is one of three NWRRC athletes selected for the Inter-Counties cross country championships at Monmouth. Reports by Don Hale. North Wales Road Runners now have three athletes selected for the Monmouth cross country championships later this month. Cheryl Frost will now join team-mates Kay Hatton and Richard Eccles for this Welsh Inter-Region challenge on 19th November. *Kay Hatton (*above left) with Cheryl Frost. One of the main event organisers  Bernie Jones  says he intends to send a very strong squad to these championships but says he is still waiting to hear from some other runners at other clubs as to whether they are still available after being selected.  He confirmed this week: “Just a polite reminder for those invited to run for North Wales in the Welsh Inter Regions to get in touch with their team managers asap to let them know whether you are running or not. We are trying to get full teams out, so we want the chance to give reserves an opportunity.” *Bernie Jone

Fell Running gold medals for Josh and Charlotte...Plus Road Runners round-up of races from all over the place...

*Josh Keogh struck gold after winning his age cat at the Fell Running Championships. Fell Running gold medals for Josh and Charlotte. Report by Don Hale. *Rowen: Josh Keogh  finished 4th overall in 1 hour 17 minutes and 21 seconds but won gold in first place in the Senior Men’s age cat within the North Wales Regional Fell Running championships at the challenging Ras Tal y Fan 8-mile race at Rowen last Saturday. And  Charlotte-Rose Wilton-Jones  also won a gold medal following her Senior Women’s title success in the same competition, recording an excellent time of 1 hour 48 minutes and 44 seconds. *A great run from Charlotte-Rose Wilton Jones (*above) to win gold in her Senior Women cat in the Fell Race champs. Other race results: - Elizabeth Driscoll 2nd in her cat at Triathlon in Chester. *Chester: Elizabeth Driscoll  competed at Chester on Sunday in a major triathlon event and celebrated another remarkable performance. Carla Green starred for Wales in Home Nations 10k race at Tenby.

Carla Green starred for Wales in Home Nations 10k race at Tenby and finished 2nd in her age category. Report by Don Hale.   Road Runner Carla Green starred for Wales in an international 10k race last weekend and finished 2nd in her respective age category during a controversial Home-Nations tournament at Tenby Carla turned in a spectacular performance and put her recent injury woes behind her to claim 2nd place in her FV50 age category, whilst club colleague  Richard Eccles  unfortunately   faced disqualification along with others following a mix-up over an alleged misdirection claim towards the finish of his 5k race, with much criticism later aimed at the event organisers. Carla Green  ran home in 53rd place overall and she was the 13th female in the 10k race in 41 minutes 42 seconds amongst 388 entrants, whilst her husband  Martin Gree
