Five championship medals for five Road Runners at the Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race... Report by Don Hale.   Five Road Runners successfully competed in the Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race on Sunday, which was a very challenging 10.7k race around Llyn Alwen Reservoir and formed part of the North Wales Trail Race Championships, with each member collecting a prestigious medal. Stuart Culverhouse  led the NWRRC team home, and he was delighted to collect a deserved gold medal after finishing 14th overall and he won his M50 age cat in 47 minutes and 26 seconds.  Cheryl Frost  also had a very good run, finishing in 34th place, and 2nd in her F55 cat in 56.25 to win a silver medal, and  Nicola Wylie  celebrated winning a bronze medal in 3rd place in the same age cat as Cheryl, finishing in 39th place in 60.54. Popular Fairy Freckled Cow trail race cancelled. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk The popular Denbigh Harriers organised Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race around the Alwen Reservoir for 2023 has sadly had to be cancelled at short notice!  An event official confirmed on Monday (19/6/23) that Natural Resources Wales (The leaseholder from Welsh Water of land around the Alwen) is not willing to issue a permit to use the tracks and footpaths used during the race.  Without this permission the race cannot be held this year and all participants who have already registered and paid for the race will be refunded their entry fee. This race was scheduled to be part of the regional North Wales trail championships. For next year Denbigh Harriers are confident of meeting Natural Resources Wales’ stricter criteria and that permission to run the race will be granted for 7th July 2024.

Report by Don Hale.   It was a great turnout of experienced club athletes and a few social endurance runners at the very tough Fairy Freckled Cow 10.7k trail race last Sunday morning. The Road Runners entered eight members and collected four podium places and a few PBs, in addition to several North Wales Trail championship medals, at one of the most challenging trail races in the region around Alwen Reservoir. Despite spectacular views, this race followed a gruelling and very hilly course, with the event eventually won by  James Yarwood  (Abergele Harriers) in 40 minutes 21 seconds.
