North Wales Road Runner Karl Morris took part in the annual Conwy Fell Race on Saturday afternoon just a few hours after competing in the 5k Nova parkrun at Prestatyn.  Described by the organisers as ‘a great fell race in the Conwy mountains,’ this gruelling course followed a 5-mile route, which included an initial 500m climb, and a further 1650ft of elevation, which started and finished at Conwy Cricket Club, and attracted 112 hardy and mixed ability athletes. Despite the challenge of two events in a day, Karl, a popular all-round endurance, fell, and road running athlete, completed this tough course with flying colours, and he ran home in 69.43 to finish in 77th place. *The over...

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Five North Wales Road Club members braved the tough challenge of the Conwy fell race last Saturday afternoon in cold, misty, and drizzly conditions which tested stamina to the limits. Amidst a quality field of 106 finishers, mainly of experienced fell runners from clubs across the country, they all battled well despite the testing conditions. Adam Lemalle was the first NWRRC man home in 71st place in 71 minutes and 15 seconds, with Charlotte Rose Wilton Jones 2nd in 87th place overall in 85.46. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   It proved to be a very fast finish for the first two Welsh International runners at last Saturday’s Conwy Fell Race with Matthew Roberts breaking the 2019 course record to win in 41 minutes 30 seconds, and he was just one second ahead of the previous course record holder Gavin Roberts in 41.31. *(Pictured above) A good run from Josh Keogh at the Conwy fell Race. Matthew (CUPR) also won his MV40 age cat, with Gavin (Calder Valley Fell Runners) winning his MO class, and Joel Gomes (Wrexham) finishing in 3rd place and 2nd in his M40 cat in 43.53. The first female was Katie Davies (Staffordshire Moorlands), 24th overall in 43.53. *A determined effort from Karl Morris (*above) at Conwy.
