Mountain  runner  Mark Davies continues his battle for life at specialist injury hospital...and fundraising appeal reaches £20k. Report by Don Hale.   Award winning ultra-distance mountain runner Mark Davies continues his battle against life-threatening injuries following a hit and run accident at Llanrhos on Saturday Jan 28. North Wales Road Runner Mark (48), who is currently receiving extensive medical treatment at Stoke hospital, is also expected to have an operation on his legs this week. *Award-winning mountain racer Mark Davies (*pictured top and above). A fundraising appeal launched last week by Mark’s friend Darrel Lewis on a special GoFundMe page has so far raised £20k. Mark is self-employed, and Darrel explained that he was trying to raise funds for Mark’s wife Leanne and his family. Special fundraising page for hit and run victim Mark Davies – an internationally acclaimed ultra-distance mountain runner.   Report by Don Hale.   Mark Davies a long serving member of North Wales Road Running Club was the unfortunate victim of a hit and run accident close to his home at Llanrhos last Saturday night (28th January) and is currently fighting for his life at Stoke Mandeville Hospital after suffering life threatening injuries. The talented endurance athlete is an internationally acclaimed award winner who just a few weeks ago won a prestigious Special Achievement prize at the Sports Conwy Awards ceremony for his exceptional performances both overseas and in the UK for his ultra-mountain running exploits. Mark, however, is self-employed, and obviously at present, he is unable to work, so his friends, supporters, and clubmates at NWRRC, have just set-up a special GoFundMe page to help raise some money for his family. Marc tackles Welsh mountains in May snow Report by Don Hale   Keen fell runner Marc Roberts has shared his passion for running in the Welsh mountains with a series of breath-taking personal photographs as heavy snow, freezing temperatures, and blizzards suddenly returned to the peaks again this week despite it being the first week of May. *Marc braves the unexpected blizzards  during  his mountain challenge Marc, who has missed the brutal challenges of competitive races over the past year due to Covid-19 restrictions, seized the opportunity for a hard training session, tackling some of North Wales best known mountain courses. He admitted: ‘It’s the first time I've really ventured up with some snow. It makes the mountains look more majestic in my humble opinion.   ‘Glyderau today from Marchlyn Mawr to Y Garn and back, picking up Carnedd Y Filiast, Mynydd Perfedd and Foel Goch en-route.
