Runners set for the Nick Beer 10k Memorial Race. Report by Don Hale.   The Nick Beer 10k memorial race around the Great Orme will take place on Sunday (Feb 12) with over four-hundred runners competing for honours and aiming to raise thousands of pounds for local charities. This popular event, now in its 31st year, has previously been controlled by North Wales Road runners, but this year the management has now passed to  Always Aim High , who confirm they are proud to add this event to their portfolio under the community events section.  The 10k race begins at 12 noon and will be preceded by a children’s 1k fun run with funds raised for St David’s Hospice. The main run is a not-for-profit and will continue to support local charities as well as NWRRC, and the 2023 event will support  Shine, St David’s Hospice, Ty Gobaith, and St John’s Ambulance. The 30th anniversary run of the popular Nick Beer 10k memorial race proved another huge success last Sunday and gave a massive and very welcome fundraising boost for a variety of charities. This spectacular annual event attracted nearly six-hundred finishers and recorded a host of excellent results despite the blustery conditions, including top female athlete Sara Willhoit, who smashed the women’s course record! Apart from many runners enjoying this race and returning to action after many turbulent months due to Covid-19 restrictions, the race and its associated Fun Run also raised thousands of pounds for St David’s Hospice and the Llandudno Lions Club charities, plus a host of individual good cau

ENTRIES OPEN FOR SCENIC NICK BEER 10K MEMORIAL RACE Entries have just opened for the Nick Beer 10k memorial road race in Llandudno, which has now been scheduled for Sunday 18 th  July 2021, with a 12-noon start. This popular annual event always attracts many hundreds of runners of mixed ages and abilities from across the UK, and beyond, to enjoy the scenic splendours of a hilly but picturesque course around the Great Orme.   S tarting and finishing on Llandudno promenade, opposite the Imperial Hotel, this will be the 29 th   annual run to help commemorate the life of a well-known former local athlete, Nick Beer, who sadly passed away in 1992, aged just 27, after eventually losing his battle with hydrocephalus. Race officials John and Kay Hatton from event organisers North Wales Road Runners (NWRRC), have supervised this major 10k run for over twenty-years, and believe Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted in time for a genuine ‘live’ race to finally go ahead, following a succession of v
