Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathetics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runners had eight club members involved in the popular Nick Beer 10k race last Sunday and celebrated with two veteran age category victories amongst a bumper entry of 627 club and social runners. The event, named in honour of a former NWRRC athlete, was well organised by  Always Aim High , and followed a picturesque but very challenging course, which started from Llandudno promenade and around the Great Orme and back, and included over forty club members acting as marshalls and willing volunteers. *Harry Driscoll (*above left) with Steve Gardner. Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Popular athletics coaches Jonathan Kettle and Tony Price-Jones, who organise a regular weekly training session on Llandudno promenade, opted to swap their evening programme last week, to a special Christmas social dash around the Great Orme. This festive event included dozens of running enthusiasts, mainly from Dalzell Runners , together with mixed members of North Wales Road Runners , GOG Triathlon , and several other local running groups, or individuals, and it was understood that most runners completed two challenging laps of the Orme, aided by essential head-torches to record a distance of about 11k. After the event, Jonathan and Tony received numerous generous plaudits from the runners for their efforts throughout the

Main photos by Kevin Slattery and John Hatton. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Twenty-five members of North Wales Road Runners took part in the annual Christmas handicap race last Sunday, but they had to battle with cool and very blustery head and sidewinds as they negotiated a challenging four-mile course along part of the Great Orme. Following a tough route out from West Shore and climbing up the Orme to the old WW2 gun sites and past what’s known as ‘ Millionaires Row ,’ the runners then turned via a further muddy track before returning back to the start. This popular event, well organised by John Hatton, Martin and Carla Green, and a team of willing volunteers and marshals attracted a bumper attendance, which included ne

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was another memorable morning at the Conwy half-marathon last Sunday as 2,513 runners battled against storm-force blustery winds and steady rain as they tackled a challenging and undulating course around Llandudno’s Great Orme and back. The event, well organised by  RunWales , was won in spectacular style however, by local

*Gwennan Charlton (*above) competed well in the Llandudno Triathlon. Road Runner and all-round athlete Gwennan Charlton  took part in the  challenging  Triathlon on Llandudno Promenade and around the Great Orme on Sunday but she seemed slightly disappointed with her swim result after a slight mishap.  She explained: “I took a wrong turn in the swim and probably added an extra 100-200m. It really threw me off! When it came to the bike, I had nothing left in the tank for loop 1, after that mare of a swim.” I don’t think Gwennan though should be too hard on herself, as her results looked quite promising despite an unfortunate mishap, including: - 750m swim in 25 minutes 37 seconds, T1 2.51, 16.95K bike ride 60.00, T2 0.58, 5k run in 30 minutes 52 seconds. Well done Gwennan! *  Cai Roberts  and his partner Kelly Marie Alford are pictured (*above) with their finishing medals after completing the Cardiff half-marathon.
