*Pictured above and below right - NWRRC athlete Elizabeth Driscoll - enjoying the sun during her half-marathon in the Falkland Islands. North Wales Road Runner Elizabeth Driscoll took part in the Falkland Islands Stone half-marathon last weekend, and ran well to finish in 7th place overall, despite a potential injury problem, and a subsequent lack of training. Elizabeth, who is a RAF flight controller, is currently working on secondment in the Falkland Islands and has previously competed in some parkruns, a marathon, and several other running events during her stay.  She later confirmed: "I hardly had any training as my achilles has been niggling again, so very pleased to finish in 1 hour 58 minutes and 18 seconds. "It was a beautiful sunny day and almost no wind (unheard of down here). Summer is on its way!"

*Pictured above - Mark Davies from NWRRC and Welsh Masters Athletics, received life threatening injuries after being hit by a drunken, hit and run female driver in January. The Daily Post have just reported on the initial court case (17/8/23) involving hit and run victim Mark Davies, a Welsh Masters Athlete, and a popular North Wales Road Runner. Mark was also an award-winning mountain racing champion, who suffered life threatening injuries due to the actions of a drunk driver. Elizabeth Driscoll (*pictured above) tackled the Cascais Ironman race in style. Report by Don Hale.   It proved to be a happy landing for RAF Air Traffic Controller Elizabeth Driscoll as she successfully navigated her way around the tough Cascais Ironman 70.3-mile course in Portugal last weekend. The experienced North Wales Road Runner who in everyday life has a very responsible role at RAF Valley on Anglesey, tackled three gruelling challenges, which included a difficult 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run, and all carried out in very hot conditions. *Elizabeth Driscoll (*pictured above) on the finish line after her race. Elizabeth eventually completed the event in 6 hours 33 minutes and 36 seconds and finished in 1,619th place overall, and she was the 262nd female and claimed 14th place in her F55 age cat. This proved to be an incredible performance by this popular endurance athlete who first set her heart on completing this race whilst on secondment last year in
