Janet Finch-Saunders, member for Aberconwy, has reiterated her concerns to the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Dawn Bowden MS, highlighting the unacceptability of restricting the operational period of pop-up campsites to just 28 days. Following Councillor Ian Turner's petition, which has garnered over 12,000 signatures, a debate on the matter will now take place on March 20th. In 2014 Conwy County Borough Council dumped a further 50,000 tonnes of oversized and untested quarry rocks onto North Shore. This action destroyed the beach. Access for many is almost impossible, and dangerous if people try. Top photo by    It was a bright sunny day with a bracing and very cool wind for a record number of colourful costume wearing swimmers and dippers on Llandudno Promenade on Boxing Day morning, who then braved the freezing sea temperatures to help raise thousands of pounds for local and other deserving charities. MC Ian Turner  kept the packed crowds well informed throughout the morning as usual, by updating everyone about this exciting event, which attracted many hundreds of people from miles around just to watch the mad dash into the waters.  It also turned out to be yet another grand occasion that had been sadly missed over the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions, but this year it certainly returned with a major splash! *Ian Turner (*far right) with Llandudno Lions Club members and fundraising charity officials at the Boxing Day sw

Boxing Day charity sea dip organised by the Lions Club of Llandudno needs your support

The Annual Lions Club of Llandudno Boxing Day Sea Dip is back for the first time since 'Lockdown'. Ian Turner (*pictured left) previews the Boxing  Day Dip:  The Annual Lions Club of Llandudno Boxing Day Sea Dip is nearly here. This year 'Swimmers Registration' will be on the promenade in the gazebo's by the old Lifeboat slipway.  If you, or anyone you know, will be taking part this year, do please make sure you register before going into the water. Registration is FREE. The club needs to know how many swimmers are going in so the RNLI and St John Ambulance volunteers are aware of numbers. Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runners collected three prestigious awards at the Sport Conwy prize giving ceremony held last Friday night at Venue Cymru. This popular annual event attracted a bumper turn-out from sponsors, supporters, sporting individuals, and organisations to recognise and honour Conwy’s most talented sports people.  The event included music by Billy Bibby, an initial address by Aaron Wynne from Conwy County Council, with an introduction by MC Matt Ward, followed by a speech from Cheryl Foster, a Welsh football referee and former player with Liverpool in the WSL. Awards were later handed to the winners of each of the twelve varied sporting categories listed, which generally included three nominees, with special video clips used to highlight the talents of

Harry Driscoll was first Road Runner at Conwy Parkrun - plus other North Wales results...

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   North Wales Road Runner Harry Driscoll was the first club runner back at Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning and he led home a strong team of fourteen seniors and two juniors amongst a holiday crowd of some two-hundred finishers. The talented team of mixed ages and abilities also claimed six age category wins and five second places in addition to recording several personal best (PB) times. Harry  finished 5th overall and won his SM20-24 age cat in just 20 minutes and 6 seconds, and he was nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival, veteran  Sean Butler  who also won his MV60-64 cat in 21.56 and he was 18th overall. *Jamie Tharme (*above) produced a good result despite a lack of sleep. Jamie Tharme  battled a lack of sleep due to work commitments, but still enjoyed a dream run to finish 22nd and 2nd in his MV40-44 cat in 22.13, and he was just six seconds ahead
