Coast and Country online magazine and blog is working hard to help fundraise for Cancer Research Charities and they have designed an innovative new fun and entertainment feature to try to predict the scores/results/goal scorers etc, from some Premier League, Championship, and or Scottish and European competition matches from midweek, and at the weekends.

The prediction system is TOTALLY FREE FOR YOU TO ENJOY but we have added a direct donation payment link if you are able to contribute £2 or more, to help aid Cancer Research Charities in their desperate plea for funds and support.

Football fans love a prediction. Will the home side take all three points? Could there be a surprise away victory? And who might score the opening goal?

With the launch of Don Hale's Football Predictions, Coast & Country is introducing a regular football feature that combines personal predictions, statistical information and comparisons with other football forecasting services.

The aim is simple: to make following the matches even more interesting and enjoyable.

It's my prediction – but what do the other sources say?

The heart of this feature is my own assessment of the matches.

However, it is also interesting to see how other forecasting services view the same fixtures. Where information is available, we'll compare predictions from sources such as:

  • Opta – statistical match probabilities and data-led analysis.

  • Mark O'Haire – football analysis and published predictions.

  • Forebet – computer-generated football forecasts.

  • PredictZ – match and score predictions.

  • Sports Mole – football previews and match predictions.

  • Other relevant forecasting services where they provide useful information.

Not every source covers every match, and some publish probabilities while others give a predicted score or a general match opinion.

We'll make that distinction clear rather than pretending that all forecasts are directly comparable.

What do the percentages actually mean?

A statistical model might suggest that a team has a 60% chance of winning, a 25% chance of drawing and a 15% chance of losing.

That does not mean the team is certain to win. It simply represents the model's assessment of the possible outcomes.

Similarly, a predicted score of 2–1 is not the same thing as a 60% probability of a home win.

We'll explain the figures in straightforward language, so readers can understand what the different forecasting services are saying.

More than just the final score

Each edition will include several elements:

1. Match-result predictions

My view on whether the home side, away side or neither will take the points.

2. Correct-score predictions

A predicted scoreline for selected fixtures, with results tracked separately from match outcomes.

3. Statistical comparisons

Where reliable information is available, we'll compare our selections with independent forecasts and relevant match statistics.

4. The Golden Goal

A fun first-goalscorer selection, together with a predicted minute. This will be included only when team information is sufficiently reliable.

5. The results tracker

We'll look back at previous predictions and record how they performed. No hiding the misses: getting a prediction wrong is part of football!

Two features every week

The series will have two regular editions:

Midweek Football Forecast
Tuesday to Friday, featuring Premier League and European football, including major continental competitions.

Weekend Football Special
Friday night through Monday, featuring the Premier League, Championship, top Scottish league and selected other matches.

Friday daytime fixtures will be included in the midweek edition, while Friday evening matches will be covered in the weekend special.

Why we do it

Football is full of surprises. Even the strongest teams can have an off day, underdogs can produce memorable victories, and a match that looks straightforward on paper can turn into a thriller.

That uncertainty is part of the attraction.

The purpose of this feature is to encourage discussion, give readers something extra to enjoy before kick-off and see how our predictions compare with other published forecasts.

A responsible word about betting

Don Hale's Football Predictions is intended purely for football interest and entertainment.

The forecasts, predicted scores and Golden Goal selections are personal opinions. They are not betting advice, recommendations or guarantees. We do not encourage gambling, and readers should never feel under pressure to place a bet.

Enjoy the football, enjoy the discussion and treat the predictions as a bit of fun.
