Time to enter the Nick Beer 10k race in Llandudno on 9/2/25

  Nick Beer Llandudno 10k - 9th Feb 2025 https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com The event, which is in its 33rd year, has previously been run by North Wales Road Runners, and Always Aim High Events are now proud to add this fantastic race to our community events.  This not-for-profit event will continue to support local charities as well as the North Wales Road Runners Club. Starting on the iconic Victorian promenade in Llandudno, the route takes runners around the awe-inspiring Great Orme with its stunning views of Eryri (Snowdonia), Anglesey and beyond.  With hundreds of runners taking part year after year, it is a fabulous start to the running season. The family   made the long trek to Newcastle for this epic event which attracted over 60,000 entrants, including some top international athletes, with many participants often raising tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com Two members of North Wales Road Runners competed in the famous Great North Run last Sunday in some challenging conditions with heavy rain and high humidity. Lesley Goodson and Rachel Morris , made the long trek to Newcastle for the start of this epic event which attracted over 60,000 entrants, including  some  top international athletes, with many other participants raising tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. Lesley returned to road racing for the first time in several years and so she was naturally very pleased with her good time of 1.47.53 and afterwards confirmed: “My first road race since pre-Covid. Hundreds of runners, including many families, and even some pet dogs, took part in the popular 5k Santa Dash on Llandudno Promenade last Saturday morning which helped to raise funds for St David's Hospice, and other local charities, despite the freezing conditions. With the early morning  Conwy parkrun  cancelled the previous evening due to the icy and potentially dangerous conditions on the course, the Dash probably attracted a number of extra charity participants, who enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the festivities, and we...

Josh and Ian ‘Raced the Train’ and hit their fundraising target for the Conwy Whales Swimming Club.

Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Enthusiastic runners and charity fundraisers Josh Mottram and Ian Taylor kept their pledge by ‘Racing the Train’ at Caernarfon this week and beating their £500 target for a very worthy cause - the Conwy Whales Swimming Club! The dashing duo, who are also keen Conwy parkrun members, were in fine form last Wednesday night as they eventually out-ran the mighty Highland Railway train from Dinas back to its starting point at Caernarfon Station.  They were within a group of about three-hundred varied ability club and social runners who took part in this exciting annual challenge, yet surprisingly they also found themselves part of an elite section of athlete...

This popular annual race changed its name a couple of years ago as a special tribute to Rohan, from Abergele, who was a remarkable scholar, and a keen sportsman, with the event now raising thousands of pounds for the  Children vs Cancer  charity and associated funds.
