Hundreds of festive runners enjoyed the 5k charity Santa Dash on Llandudno prom.

Hundreds of runners, including many families, and even some pet dogs, took part in the popular 5k Santa Dash on Llandudno Promenade last Saturday morning which helped to raise funds for St David's Hospice, and other local charities, despite the freezing conditions. With the early morning  Conwy parkrun  cancelled the previous evening due to the icy and potentially dangerous conditions on the course, the Dash probably attracted a number of extra charity participants, who enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the festivities, and were kept toasty-warm after weari

Ring O’ Fire is a coastal ultra-marathon which takes runners on an extraordinary 135-mile journey around the Isle of Anglesey. The epic foot race is staged over three consecutive days and follows the rugged and spectacular Anglesey Coastal Path. Almost the entire coastline of Anglesey has been designated an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Snowdonia Mountain range, runners will challenge themselves in some of the most awe-inspiring coastal scenery in the British Isles. Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Enthusiastic runners and charity fundraisers Josh Mottram and Ian Taylor kept their pledge by ‘Racing the Train’ at Caernarfon this week and beating their £500 target for a very worthy cause - the Conwy Whales Swimming Club! The dashing duo, who are also keen Conwy parkrun members, were in fine form last Wednesday night as they eventually out-ran the mighty Highland Railway train from Dinas back to its starting point at Caernarfon Station.  They were within a group of about three-hundred varied ability club and social runners who took part in this exciting annual challenge, yet surprisingly they also found themselves part of an elite section of athletes who act

Photographs by Anthony Paul Davies. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Rohan’s Run, formerly known as the Deganwy Dash, attracted a bumper attendance last Friday night, to help both commemorate and celebrate the life of an extraordinary young student, Rohan Ingley,  who tragically lost his life to leukaemia in August 2018, aged just 17. This popular annual race changed its name a couple of years ago as a special tribute to Rohan, from Abergele, who was a remarkable scholar, and a keen sportsman, with the event now raising thousands of pounds for the  Children vs Cancer  charity and associated funds. More than three-hundred runners turned-out in magnificent sun-drenched conditions on Deganwy Promenade to run this challenging 5-mile Dash, which followed the Conwy Estuary towards Conwy Castle, and then onto the RSPB

Report by Don Hale.   Entries are now open for Rohan’s Run, previously known as the Deganwy 5-mile Dash, which will be staged on Friday 2nd June 2023, from Deganwy Promenade with a 7pm start. This special race in memory of local teenager  Rohan Ingley , starts and finishes by the race HQ on Deganwy Prom and follows the Conwy Estuary towards Conwy Castle, and then onto the RSPB, before returning along the same route.  The entry fee is just £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for non-affiliated runners with all proceeds donated to Ronald MacDonald House Charities and Young Lives v Cancer. All these charities were chosen by Rohan before he eventually lost his life aged just 17 in August 2018. *GOG athlete Craig Rutter (*above) returned to action at  the Nick Beer 10k race and he was one of many GOG Triathlon members who ran last Sunday. Nick Beer 10k charity success as GOG Triathlon runners tackled the Orme in bright sunshine. Report by Don Hale.    Over five-hundred mixed ability runners enjoyed bright sunshine and some spectacular scenery around the Great Orme in Llandudno last Sunday for the ever-popular Nick Beer 10k race. The large crowds of tourists and supporters on the promenade were treated to a feast of entertainment as the mass ranks quickly dashed past the pier and began the challenging ascent and later descent of the Orme prior to returning to the start via Church Walks. There was a large turnout of GOG Triathlon athletes and  Grant Little  was the first club home on 38.05 and he also won his MV40 age cat, with  Jonathan Seymour  close behind in 17th place and 2nd in the same age cat as grant in 38.14, and  Keith Quinton  was the 3rd GOG runner in 39.48.
