Most photos by Steve Jeffery.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Several hundred runners ranging from juniors to master veterans took part in the Grand Prix Express, North Wales cross-country championships, held last Saturday afternoon at Ysgol Morgan Llywd at Wrexham. North Wales Road Runners  entered nine athletes including five ladies and four men, and they won six prestigious NW championship awards with one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals. The female athletes competed in the senior/master women’s race with  Carla Green  bouncing back to form in 29th place overall in 28 minutes and 20 seconds to win a silv

Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Welsh Masters Athletics men’s team collected 21 prestigious age category medals at the British Masters T&F championships at Derby in August, including 6 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze! Many of the medals were won by multi-event participants with  Graham Holder  claiming two gold medals for his success in the HT6K, and WT1134K events, and a silver in the DT 1.5K, whilst  Ian Broadhurst  won gold in the 200m race, and a bronze in the 100m. Russell Whiting  also won a gold medal in the 100m, and a silver in the 200m, and  Sean Price  was the other gold medal winner following his efforts in the 400m. In addition,  Barrie Roberts  won a silver and a bronze medal from his 800m and 1500m events, as did  Oliver Williams  over the same distances, but in different age category races. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was a double delight for the Welsh Masters Athletics website manager Juliet Sidney at last weekend’s British Masters Track & Field Championships at Derby, where the veteran ‘Pocket Rocket’ collected two prestigious gold medals for winning both of her 100 and 200m races. The talented W55 age category winner, who currently holds the No 1 spot nationally for both race distances, was thrilled by her success on the track at the impressive but windswept Moorways Sports Complex, and now hopes to maintain her top form in readiness for the forthcoming European Championships later this month.  After the 100m race (13.96), Juliet said: “I was pleased with the win in the BM Championships W55, 100m. NWRRC entered fifteen athletes and recorded five podium places in the main race, including one age category win, three second, and one third; and in addition they also claimed nine prestigious North Wales medals, including five gold, in the associated regional championships, which was run in conjunction with this same

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   It was another great turnout of talented runners at the midweek Caernarfon 10k race last Wednesday night, which attracted nearly two-hundred entrants for the main race, and the inclusive North Wales championships. Run on a bright, sunny, and humid evening, and heading out towards the harbour and the magnificent ancient Castle, a large number of elite and top club runners soon battled for glory on this undulating course, with the eventual winner  Adam Jones  (Eryri Harriers) finishing in 33 minutes 19 seconds, and just 20-seconds ahead of rival  Scott Nixon  (Cardiff AC) in 33.39, with  James Yarwood  (Abergele Harriers) in close pursuit, and only another 7-seconds adrift in 33.46.
