BMAF Cross Country Championships -Rhug 16 March Bernie Jones, the secretary of the NW Cross-country league, is urging local runners to enter the British Masters championships at Rhug, near Corwen. The BMAF Cross Country Championships are being held at Rhug on 16 March and is a great opportunity for all North Wales athletes over 35 years old to try and win a medal in their age group at these British Championships which are being held on our door. You DO NOT have to be a Masters member; anyone over 35 is eligible to enter. Let’s see some North Walians get amongst the medals. Photos by Lesley Goodson. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Three Road Runners braved the strong blustery winds, rain, and heavy mud at Dolgellau this weekend during the latest fixture within the Grand Prix Express, North Wales XC league. Will Williams  ran well in the  Senior Men’s race  and finished well in 38th place overall amongst 125 starters, and he was 3rd in his MV50 age cat in 36 minutes and 19 seconds. Will later said: “ I really love cross-country. Always a great atmosphere.” The race was won by  Matthew Collins  (Oswestry Olympians) in 30.11 and he won his SM age cat.  Janos Vranek (Aberystwyth University) was 2nd in 30.22, with  Rhodri Owen  (Meirionnydd) 3rd in 31.11.  Emyr Davies  competed in the over 65’s race and won his M80 age cat in 29.25, finishing 15th overall, with  Roge

Photos courtesy of Lesley Goodson. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Three members of NWRRC travelled to the PGL Centre at Baschurch, near Shrewsbury, last Saturday afternoon, to take part in the latest highly successful cross-country fixture within the North Wales XC League. Will Williams  celebrated a podium result after claiming the 2nd spot in his respective MV50 age category following a determined run in the Senior Men’s race, finishing 49th out of 177 quality club entrants in a very respectable time of 30 minutes and 4 seconds.  Cheryl Frost  and  Kay Hatton  competed in the Senior Women’s event, which also attracted 158 top club athletes, with Cheryl 78th in 25.21, and 4th in her FV55 age cat, whilst Kay was 88th in 25.43, and she too finished

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Four North Wales Road Runners swapped their trainers for spikes and competed in the combined Welsh Inter-Regional cross-country championships held at Dolerw Park, Newtown, last Saturday. The quartet, which included Cheryl Frost, Kay Hatton, Will Williams , and Steve Gardner, were all eventually part of the overall winning team that finished ahead of rivals West Wales, East Wales, and South Wales, to take the deserved plaudits. North Wales ladies won the female team prize with 121-points, whilst the male team finished 3rd, yet the overall points tally confirmed that North Wales were the outright team victors of this prestigious challen

The next North Wales Cross Country League will take place at a superb new course near Baschurch, Shrewsbury on Saturday 25th November 2023 *The venue and postcode is: PGL Boreatton Park Baschurch Shrewsbury SY4 2EZ Shrewsbury AC have developed some challenging routes in the fantastic surroundings of Boreatton Park. Please access the Park via the main gates. As usual first race, Under 15 Boys at 10-30am, followed by U15 Girls/U13 Boys; U13 Girls/U11 Boys and U11 Girls. The Women's Race (including M65+ and U17 Men will start at 1pm and the Men at 2pm. Please follow any instructions of where to park by the marshalls. North Wales Teams have been drawn up based on the first North Wales League fixture and other recent performances and taking into account those who said they were not available.   **URGENT NOTICE **CANCELLATION** NORTH WALES CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - COLWYN BAY Note from Bernie  Jones- secretary of the NW XC league. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay is flooded and with the rain and storms forecast to continue until tomorrow morning (Sat 21st October), Conwy Council have taken the decision to cancel our fixture tomorrow. The car parks are already flooded and as most of you know the park itself is one of our wettest courses so with all the rain its not surprising that the course, car parks and surrounding areas are flooded. I can only apologise to everyone for the cancellation, but hope you understand. We are reliant on the goodwill of landowners and we have to work with them to ensure the safety of everyone. **PLEASE CAN YOU LET YOUR CLUBMATES AND EVERYONE KNOW
