Most photos by Steve Jeffery.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Conwy parkrun welcomed plenty of visitors to last Saturday’s event with the first male finisher, and the first three female placings, all recording some excellent times on their debuts. All three top female finishers were debutants, including  Nancy Connolly  (University of East Anglia Triathlon Club), who was the 1st lady (40th overall) in 22.50, and she also won her SW25 cat, with  Rebecca King,  2nd, (52nd overall),   and the winner of her VW35 cat in 23.54, whilst  Ellie Robinson  (West Cheshire AC) claimed the 3rd place in 24.20 (59th overall) in 24.20 and won her VW50 age cat. RNLI fundraising appeal for runners to support their Mayday Mile challenge... Report by Don Hale. Photo Steve Jeffery.   The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has launched an urgent fundraising campaign for individual runners or running clubs to help them promote and support their Mayday Mile Appeal. *Flashback to the last RNLI appeal with John Hatton (*above right) from NWRRC handing a fundraising cheque from the club to an RNLI official in Llandudno. Catherine Tudor, the community manager, for North and Mid Wales, confirmed: ‘RNLI lifesavers answer Mayday calls and rescue others, but this May, we’re asking for your help, so will you answer our call? ‘As the beaches fill up this summer, our lifesavers will be at their busiest. With more people drawn to the water, more people will get into danger. It could be you or someone you love, and crews needs to be ready, and that takes lifeboats, training kit, lifeboat stations, and fuel. ‘Can you help get our lifesavers ready for resc

North Wales Road Runner Carla Green galloped home in style and marked her return to “live” racing last Sunday with a superb performance in the Run Aintree half-marathon, claiming a new personal best (PB) time and also won her F45 age category award. Carla was the 3rd female finisher amidst a high-quality field of nearly 500 mixed entrants and completed her run around a blustery racecourse route in just 1 hour 25 mins 52 seconds, confirming an amazing 5-minute PB. This result also created a cause for family celebration, with her husband Martin finishing 3 rd  in the 5k race. *Members of the successful North Wales Road Runners team at Aintree A strong team from NWRRC travelled over the border to England with nine athletes in the half-marathon, and two more in the 5k race. NORTH WALES ROAD RUNNERS RETURN TO GROUP TRAINING SESSIONS

North Wales Road Runners returned to live group activities last Tuesday evening as they once again enjoyed active training sessions at West Shore. The group then ran clockwise around the Great Orme. If anyone wants to join in with training sessions organised by Mark Jessett or Kevin Slattery the group meet at 7pm each Tuesday (at present) at the West Shore car park. When normal sessions return for groups of 30 or more are finally approved, following Covid-19 restrictions,  the club will return to Ysgol John Bright at the same day and time.  Kevin remarked: ' Celebrating the start of the return to normality, 12-members, including "new" member (back in the club after quite a few years!) Peter Armstrong , we ran around the Great Orme in cracking evening weather. NORTH WALES RUNNERS WIN PODIUM PLACES IN VIRTUAL WELSH FIVE-MILE RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Four members of North Wales Road Running Club won age-related podium placings within a high-quality field of national athletes during last weekend’s Welsh Athletics virtual 5-mile relay challenge. With almost nine-hundred-entrants competing overall, including twenty-six teams of eight runners, the NWRRC team finished 15 th  overall, with the top four male and female finishers from each club counting towards team scores.  Due to strict Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing regulations, and recent freezing temperatures, the event was staged as a time-trial over four days, with all athletes having to complete their runs individually, and on their own preferred courses.
