Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co,uk North Wales Road Runner Will Williams continued his purple patch of form to claim another personal best (PB) time at Conwy parkrun last Saturday after claiming a hat-trick of other recent outstanding results on his travels. Will stormed home during the latter part of the event to secure a notable result as the 1st finisher overall and recorded a new course PB of 17 minutes and 59 seconds, to additionally win his MV50 age cat. In the end his rival and debutant  Aled Hughes  had to settle for 2nd place and finished just 21-seconds adrift of Will in 18.20, with fellow debutant  Jack Kelbrick  3rd, with a PB of 18.58. Anna Drinkwater  (Eryri Harriers) was the 1st female finisher and the winner of her SW25 cat in 20.09, with  Ella Grundy  (Colwyn Bay AC), the runner-up aga

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   North Wales Road Runners celebrated with six podium places including four first place age category wins at Conwy parkrun last Saturday. Following the return to action after last week’s postponement due to heavy frost on the course, the Road Runners entered nine senior members and one junior amongst the 218 finishers, with the usual mix of quality club and social runners. It proved to be a very fast encounter, and at the time of writing the first-place finisher remained unknown as they probably forgot their essential barcode, so the credit went to  Andrew Bromley  (Prestatyn RC) in 2nd place with a great course PB of 17 minutes and 28 seconds, with club colleague  Alex Ryder  3rd with another well-deserved PB in 17.45. Top-ten finish for Llyr at Newcastle Duathlon

*Llyr improved his running times at the Try on the Tyne Duathlon. Top-ten finish for Llyr at Newcastle Duathlon. Report by Don Hale. North Wales Road Runner, and top rugby referee Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts, continued his love of duathlons last weekend and finished 10th overall in the “Try on the Tyne” sprint race in Newcastle. For Llyr, he admitted that it’s still a learning process for him, by combining two road races, interspersed with a four lap, 5k cycle circuit on closed roads.  He also had to negotiate challenging transitions and a slippery cycle dash on wet road surfaces but said he was pleased to clinch a top-ten finish. The three events covered a distance of about 25k and Llyr improved his running PB, and finished 10th overall in a time of 1 hour 7 minutes and 51 seconds. *Llyr had to deal with slippery roads due to the wet weather last weekend.
