Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Two Welsh Master field veterans in Robin (Bob) Frost and Paul Brooks from Wrexham AAC are celebrating after collecting a host of awards, medals, and records in their respective recent championship throwing and/or jumping events. Paul Brooks explained: "Bob Frost,  having turned 80 earlier this year is still very busy setting new club records and collecting an impressive number of medals. He won three golds and a silver competing in the Derbyshire County championships, setting age-group records.  "And at the Northern Masters championships in Stretford, he won four golds and two silvers, whilst last weekend at the BMAF championships in Derby, he won both the high jump and long jump, with a bronze in the javelin." *Paul Brooks (*above left), with his club...

Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Welsh Master Steve Gardner claimed a prestigious gold medal last weekend in the 2000m steeplechase race during the British Masters Track and Field Championships held at the Moorways Stadium, near Derby. Despite his varied successes on the track, bizarrely, this was the first time he has ever won a gold medal in the British Championships, and this latest impressive result is likely to have smashed another Welsh record! After his event, a delighted Steve confirmed:  “ I competed in the 2000m steeplechase, winning a gold medal with a time of 7.37.24, with  Phil York  second and  Simon Allen  third. “Whilst I have had some good results previously in  Welsh Championships , this is the first time that I have won a gold medal in a British Championship.” Stev...

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was very hot and sunny for a host of Welsh Masters Athletes at the British Masters Athletics track and field championships held at the Moorways Stadium, at Derby, last weekend, with many competitors winning gold medals and recording some great new PBs. One of the top female veteran sprinters  Juliet Sidney , from WMAL, won two gold medals and set a new 200m PB beating her previous performance from several years ago. And North Wales athletes  Steve Gardner , and his master vet father  Dave Gardner  hit top form again, like many others, and just a week after their amazing exploits at Yate for the WMAL champs, with both recording some amazing new PBs. Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Welsh Masters Athletics men’s team collected 21 prestigious age category medals at the British Masters T&F championships at Derby in August, including 6 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze! Many of the medals were won by multi-event participants with  Graham Holder  claiming two gold medals for his success in the HT6K, and WT1134K events, and a silver in the DT 1.5K, whilst  Ian Broadhurst  won gold in the 200m race, and a bronze in the 100m. Russell Whiting  also won a gold medal in the 100m, and a silver in the 200m, and  Sean Price  was the other gold medal winner following his efforts in the 400m. In addition,  Barrie Roberts  won a silver and a bronze medal from his 800m and 1500m events, as did  Oliver Williams  over the same distances...
