GOG Triathlon members earn the plaudits at Conwy parkrun...round-up of results for past two weeks.

*Teenage GOG athlete Caitlin Owen (*above) has won her age cat at Conwy parkrun twice in recent weeks during a break from her studies. GOG Triathlon members ran their luck with 7 podium places, including five age cat wins! Report by Don Hale. (*Conwy parkrun 25/3/23).   GOG Triathlon entered thirteen members at Conwy but contrary to belief, this number proved very lucky as they claimed seven podium places including five age category victories! Victoria Cole  was the first club athlete home, and she was also the 1st female finisher, with a new PB of 21.20, to also win her VW40 age cat, finishing 10th overall .  Andy Brazier  was 2nd in his MV55 cat in 23rd place in 23.04, with  Steven Owen  finishing 29th in 23.15, and  Merf Jones  was in close pursuit in 32nd place in 23.30. Tom Simpson  finished 64th in 25.35, and  Stephen Dutton  was 70th in 25.52, with  Claire Parsley  enjoying another good run in 71st place, and she was only three seconds behind Stephen but won her VW45 age cat in

Most photos by Steve Jeffery.    It was another bright, sunny, but cold Saturday morning at Conwy parkrun last weekend as 239 entrants from all parts of the UK enjoyed the splendours of this attractive but challenging 5k course. This event included a very fast-paced dash by two young and promising athletes who dominated the parkrun from start to finish with  Tomos Land  the 1st runner home in just 17 minutes and 18 seconds, closely followed by rival  John Davies  (Eryri Harriers) in 2nd place, who was just twenty-seconds behind, despite a new PB of 17.38, with  Ian Slattery  3rd in 18.58. The 1st Lady was  Tara Truman  (Stroud) in 20.38, with  Alice Johnston  (Les Croupiers) 2nd in 20.44 and  Anna Smith  (Hedge End) 3rd in 20.50. Photos by Steve  JEFFERY.   Nine GOG members took part in the Conwy parkrun last Saturday and recorded four excellent age category wins on a dry but windy event that also welcomed snooker star Ronnie O’Sullivan. Numbers were boosted by many tourist entrants during the half-term weekend with the run attracting 233 mixed ability runners from various parts of the UK, including  Ronnie (*pictured below)  who had been performing at Venue Cymru in the Welsh Open championships. Jose Eduardo Vega Perez  was the first club man home and finished 1st in his MV35 age cat in 19.38. He was followed by  Lizzie Irvine  who also won her VW35 cat in 23.56 in 47th place overall, with  Andrea Cody  claiming the 2nd spot in the same cat as Lizzie finishing 59th in 25.05. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   GOG Triathlon members claimed six podium places at Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning including four age category wins and two second places despite a very wet and waterlogged 5k course. Nine club members entered, and  Andy Brazier  led the team back in 22nd place and he was 2nd in his MV55 cat in 22.45. He was closely followed by  Lizzie Irvine  who was the second female finisher, and she won her VW35 cat in 26th place in 23.47, with  Paul Algieri  giving Lizzie a good chase before finishing 27th in 23.56. *Lizzie Irvine (*above left) with Paul Algieri. Report by Don Hale.   Seven GOG Triathlon runners competed in the Conwy parkrun last Saturday and collected three podium placings including two first place finishes in their respective age categories. Lizzie Irvine  led the GOG team home in 26th place and she also won her VW35 cat in 22.49 and claimed the 2nd female finisher spot.  Steve Owen  was 39th in 23.57, with  Nicola Tomlinson  53rd and won her VW40 age cat in 25.38. Katie Harvey finished in 88th place overall and came 3rd in her VW50 cat in 28.38, with  Dimitri Pitton  96th in 29.18.  Sarah Ellwood  had a good run in 115th place in 31.16, whilst  Dinah Hazeldine  finished well in 141st place in 39.53. *The event attracted 150 runners of all ages and mixed abilities on a cold but clear day with  Josh Keogh  (NWRRC) the first male runner back with a PB of 17.01, with club colleague  Martin Green  second in 17.56 and  Matthew Baker  thir

Reports by Simon Roxburgh and Don Hale.   GOG Triathlon club enjoyed a good day out at the Conwy half-marathon with twenty-two athletes involved and claimed several PB times and a deserved age cat podium place . Dan Wellings  was the first GOG runner back finishing 31st overall with an impressive PB of 1:24:58 and he finished 5th in his age group . Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   GOG Triathlon runners packed well at Conwy parkrun last Saturday despite preparations for the Conwy half-marathon the following day and claimed four podium places including three second place finishes. Many of the parkrun finishing times however, probably reflected the preparation needed for this tough challenge around the Great Orme just 24-hours later and included tackling the usual rather soggy and puddle-filled 5k course. Lizzie Irvine  led a team of seven GOGs members home with another superb display as the 5th female runner, in 32nd place overall in 23 minutes and 18 seconds to finish 3rd in her VW35 age cat.  Gareth Jones  (*pictured below right) finished 50th in 24.38, with  Sarah Gallacher  53rd, and 2nd in her VW40 age cat in 25.06. John Farrell  ran well in 60th place in 25.23 with  Clare Parsley  6

Report by Don Hale   It must have been Ladies-Day for most GOG Triathlon members at Conwy parkrun last Saturday with six entrants in total, including five female athletes, and all performed well to claim three podium places, with one age cat victory, one second, and one third placing. Victoria Cole  was the first club runner home in 24th place overall, and the 4th female runner, winning her VW40 age cat in 22.42. She was followed by  Andy Brazier  who was 32nd in 23.24, and he finished 3rd in his MV55 cat. Lizzie Irvine  had a good run in 39th place and she was the 7th female finisher in 23.57.  Nicola Tomlinson  also   enjoyed her run and claimed   2nd place in her VW40 age cat, and she was 64th overall in 26.00, with  Katie Harvey  131st in 30.40, and  Sarah Ellwood  154th in 33.31.
