Hope House and Ty Gobaith appeal raised over £500k for their Children’s Hospices. Special updated report by Don Hale.  donhaleblog.blogspot.com   The Final Moments Matter campaign – previously highlighted on my blog – and launched over a two-day period towards the end of last month by Hope House and Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospices has finally reached their incredible fundraising target of £500k. Staged over a very special and intense 36-hour period on Sunday 26th November and Monday 27th November, they set out to raise half-a-million pounds to help cover the annual costs of providing the very best end of life care for every child and family in this region. Organisers asked the community to come together as one, to embrace local families, whose hearts were breaking and to make sure they were not isolated in their pain and grief. A slightly early but rather spooky Halloween style 5k Dark Run took place last Saturday night from the RSPB site near Llandudno Junction, and followed the Conwy 5k parkrun course under lights to help raise funds for Ty Gobaith and Hope House Children’s charities. Ian Turner completes his Virtual London Marathon charity run on Llandudno prom. Report by Don Hale. Photographs by John Hatton. Master veteran runner Ian Turner completed his Virtual London Marathon charity challenge on Llandudno promenade last Sunday morning supported by a host of NWRRC club members, who either ran part of the course with him, or were available as a back-up team with drinks and refreshments. Ian, who was running in support of “Breast Cancer Now,” was aiming to try and raise at least £1,000 for this charity, eventually completed his gruelling attempt by running numerous laps up and down Llandudno promenade.  And to help pace him throughout his marathon, which included the full 26.2 distance, Ian was joined by club colleagues and friends, Don Hale, Richard Scamans, Helen Hannam, Steve McCarten, and Kay Hatton, who completed varied distance legs. *Ian Turner crosses the finishing line on the prom after completing his marathon. Josie runs over 100 miles for cancer skin charities Report by Don Hale. Endurance runner Josie Davies has just completed a gruelling 100.7 miles fundraising challenge for melanoma and skin cancer charities. North Wales based runner Josie has braved a variety of mixed weather over the past month or so during her runs but remained determined to raise as much money as possible for a cause very close to her heart. She was relieved however, to finally finish the job, and later confirmed: ‘That’s it all done. Over 100 miles completed in May for   Melanoma Focus   and   SKCIN  Charities to raise the awareness of melanoma and skin cancer. Thank you to everybody whose sponsored me so far. ‘I am forever grateful as we really need to make people more aware of the devastation of this horrible disease which can just creep up on you when you least expect it. *Sara Tuck (left) is pictured with her running partner Natalie Howson on the Orme Thousands of pounds raised by many runners for charities in ‘Dawn to Dusk’ relay challenge in North Wales Report by Don Hale   Relay teams from North Wales and across the globe ran hundreds of miles with many also raising thousands of pounds for charities in a unique ‘ Dawn to Dusk’  challenge held last weekend. Facing a target of running in teams of three over a 12-hour period from 6am to 6pm, endurance athletes of mixed genre and ability, combined their efforts to try to run as far as possible within this strict time period, with prizes given to winning teams. Promoted as an exciting green challenge, entrants were also given the option to donate towards their own chosen charity, or to Mind, Sporting Equals, or NHS charities.  And additionally, they were also encouraged to make a separate donation towards the organiser’s sustainable partners,  Mossy Earth,  who will plant a tree in their name in the Sout
