Gold medals for father and son Dave and Steve Gardner at the Indoor Championships.

Report by Don Hale https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Road Runner and super-vet Dave Gardner struck gold at the North Wales Indoor Championships at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Sunday by winning his M85 age category in the shot-put competition. Dave also improved on his previous PB and winning performance from last year when he competed in the M80 cat with a superb throw of 7.26m, which is also expected to be a national record. He later obtained a deserved podium place and collected a prestigious gold medal for his sterling efforts. Meanwhile, Dave’s son  Steve Gardner , also collected a gold medal in the Welsh Masters Indoor Championships at Cardiff on Sunday in his 800m track event with an excellent winning time of 2 minutes 20.89 seconds. *Gold medal winners Dave Gardner (*above left), with Steve Gardner.

Michael Finnie wins his age cat at the 60m indoor Open event at Deeside plus other race results.

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   NWRRC veteran track athlete Michael Finnie won his M65 age cat at the North Wales Indoor Open 60m dash at the Deeside Indoor Athletics Centre at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Saturday. He braved the challenging weather conditions en-route caused by Storm Bert, to take part in the sprint event, and he was just a fraction of second down on his previous best time, but said he was still pleased with his fine result of 11.23 seconds. After the event, he admitted that unfortunately the road conditions had restricted the number of competitors, but confirmed: “Not bad, since I haven’t been able to train much due to weather and flu the past week. I think I was a quarter of a second slower than my best.” Michael is hoping to improve...

Road Running trio won five medals, new PBs, and broke some records at NW Track & Field champs.

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Three Road Runners took to the track last Saturday at Deeside for the North Wales Regional Track & Field Championships and set some new PBs, won five prestigious medals, and also smashed a couple of Welsh records! Veteran  Steve Gardner  hit top form in the 3000m race for Senior Men, and he finished in 7th place overall within a quality field and won a gold medal after finishing 1st in his VM60 age cat with a superb new PB time of 11 minutes and 2 seconds.  His father  Dave Gardner  also excelled in the shot put and javelin events and won two gold medals in his VM80 age cat in both events, with some exceptional throws, which are ...

Entries are now open for the North Wales Cross Country Championships which will be held at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, Wrexham, on Saturday 7th January 2023. Three Road Runners selected for North Wales at Inter-Regions cross country at Monmouth...plus XC and indoor champs updates

*Richard Eccles is one of three NWRRC athletes selected for the Inter-Counties cross country championships at Monmouth. Reports by Don Hale. North Wales Road Runners now have three athletes selected for the Monmouth cross country championships later this month. Cheryl Frost will now join team-mates Kay Hatton and Richard Eccles for this Welsh Inter-Region challenge on 19th November. *Kay Hatton (*above left) with Cheryl Frost. One of the main event organisers  Bernie Jones  says he intends to send a very strong squad to these championships but says he is still waiting to hear from some other runners at other clubs as to whether they are still available after being selected.  He confirmed this week: “Just a polite reminder for those invited to run for North Wales in the Welsh Inter Regions to get in touch with their team managers asap to let them know whether you are running or not. We are trying to get full teams out, so we want the chance to give reserves an opportunity....
