It was cold and blustery for many hundreds of parkrunners across North Wales last Saturday morning, but many events still reported good attendances and fast times.


At Llandrillo yn Rhos, where they commemorated WWF and a nature theme, they again celebrated with a generous number of 443 participants, including plenty of visitors from across the UK.


The first finisher was debutant Aidan Thomas, who was the runaway leader, finishing in just 17 minutes and 22 seconds. The second placed athlete remained unknown, but Jeremy Pena took the second spot in 18.41. 


*The first female was visitor Emma Knowles (9th overall) who enjoyed a great debut run in 19.10, with Ellie Evans (Cybi Striders) second in 21.55, and the talented Amelia Anderson (Tristars Conwy) third in a good time of 22.33.

*NWRRC entered eleven members with Will Evans leading the team home in 8th place with a new course PB of 19.06, and he also won his VM45 age cat. Will Williams was12th and third in his VM50 cat in 19.50, whilst James Jones finished 31st in 21.50, and he too was third in his SM30 cat. Richard Scamans was 39th in 22.18, and Jonathan Kettle ran as a guide with Daniel Owens and they finished together 86/87th place in 24.21. 


Master vet Don Hale won his VM70 age cat in 162nd place in 27.20, and super-vet Mike Hayton also won his VM75 cat in 235th place in 30.10. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Driscoll ran with her dog Winston again in 32.23, and Hannah Griffith was 294th with a new course PB in 32.39, whilst veteran John O’Shea finished in 312nd place in 33.49, and Helen Hannam tail walked in 41.38.


*GOG Triathlon had twelve finishers at Rhos with Andy Jones 37th in 22.09; Paul Algieri was 54th in 23.14, and Gary Jones was 62nd in 23.31. 


*Colwyn Bay AAC had three members running, with Josh Mottram winning his SM18 age cat in 27th place in 21.28; and Ian Taylor was 36th with a new course PB in 22.01, and he was third in his VM45 age cat; whilst Rebecca Downs won her VW45 cat in 60th place in 21.28. 


*Porth Eirias Runners entered seven members with Jasper McQueen their first finisher in 29th place in 21.42; Barry Palmer was 77th in 24.08; and Zara Parry recorded a new course PB in 233rd place in 30.03.


*Some other local runners of note at Rhos included: (30) Rhys Pugh 21.48; (44) Darren Dentith 22.37; (56) Dave Munday with a new course PB in 23.18; and (101) Tony Parvin in 24.58.

*Conwy: SM20 athlete and Bangor University student Andrew Moore was the runaway finisher at the Conwy parkrunlast Saturday despite the challenging conditions in 15.58, with Andy Woodhead second with a new CPB in 17.47, and teenager Harry Alvarez took the third spot on his course debut in 18.15. 


*The first female finisher was Chelsea Travers (Rothwell Harriers Leeds), who was 13th overall on her course debut with a fast finish in 22.11. Alice Horsfield was second on her debut following a very close result in 22.13, with visitor Suzanne Beattie (Musselburgh and District AC) third in 22.45. 


 

*Andrew Moore (*above left) from Bangor University was the first finisher at the Conwy parkrun, with Andy Woodhead, second, and Harry Alvarez third.


*Other results of note from local runners at Conwy included: Stuart Culverhouse (NWRRC)16th in 22.32, and he was third in his VM50 age cat; and there were three GOG Triathlon members involved with Simon Cole 11th overall and second in his VM45 cat in 22.05, with Jose Eduardo Vega Perez 15th in 22.18, and he was third in his VM35 cat; and veteran Liz Evans won her VW75 age cat in 28.28 in 63rd place overall. *Note: Eight out of the first ten female athletes were all visitors. *There were 158 finishers overall at Conwy.

*Prestatyn: Tom Carter (Prestatyn RC) was the first finisher at the Nova parkrun at Prestatyn in 18.56, with visitor Zack Sadier second on his course debut in 20.11, and teenager Jack Richards was third in 20.39. 


*The first female was Abbey Young in 23.37, and Lucy Lloyd finished second in 24.29, with Tilly Jones third in 25.167. *Prestatyn RCentered 19 members with Tom Carter first, and Dafydd Montgomery next in 4th place overall in 20.39, with Adam Jeffers 7th in 21.26. *There were 193 finishers at Nova.

 

*Penrhyn: Visitor James Browne was the first finisher at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun with a good time of 17.23, and he was followed by Ifan Jones (Cybi Striders) in 18.23, with the third placed runner remaining unknown. 


*The first female finisher was Samia Jones (Menai T&F), in 10th place overall in 20.16, with JW11-14 athlete Fiona Horne second with a new course PB in 20.46, and Mabli Baines (Eryri Harriers) claimed the third place in 21.10. *There were 213 finishers at Penrhyn.
