Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Charity organiser, promoter and popular NWRRC official  John Hattton,  who has been involved with the organisation of two major fundraising events recently for local deserving causes, confirmed this week that £4.5k was raised on Sunday at the  Mental Elf 5k fun-run , and that a further £14k was raised at the recent  Conwy Dark Run  in October for  Ty Gobaith , which utilised the Conwy parkrun course from the RSPB centre. Conwy Dark Run for Children's Charities...28/10/23. This year's event is on Saturday 28th October at RSPB Conwy. This is a unique drone footage taken at night in Conwy, North Wales, on 20th October 2022, by Snapdrone on behalf of the fundraising organisers for a special 5k DARK RUN or walk from the RSPB at Conwy, to help raise funds for Hope House and Ty Gobaith Children's Charities. Conwy Dark Run 2023 – 28th October 2023 at 6:30pm.   It’s time to glow crazy and take in the delights of the Conwy Charity Dark Run, which returns for a second year on Saturday 28th October and will fundraise for Hope House and Ty Gobaith  children's  cancer  charities. You can run, jog, or walk, and join with friends, take your family, or do it solo - the choice is yours! We can’t wait to see everyone waving their glow sticks in support of seriously ill local children.  The event follows the Conwy Parkrun course - but in the dark! It starts and finishes at the RSPB Centre near Llandudno Junction and travels along the Cob towards a Conwy Castle which will be lit up in all its glory.  It then continues along the cycle path towards Deganwy before returning to the RSPB Centre.  Complete 5K amidst music, cheering spectators and finish your Dark Run to pick up your unique glow-in-the-dark medal and extra special goody bag. Over five-hundred mixed ability runners enjoyed bright sunshine and some spectacular scenery around the Great Orme in Llandudno last Sunday for the ever-popular Nick Beer 10k race. The large crowds of tourists and supporters on the promenade were treated to a feast of entertainment as the mass ranks quickly dashed past the pier and began the challenging ascent and later descent of the Orme prior to returning to the start via Church Walks. The event also welcomed a special 1k fun run for children and parents on the prom with proceeds donated towards  St David’s Hospice . And the 10k race that followed the junior race also raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities including  Shine, Ty Gobaith, St John’

Runners set for the Nick Beer 10k Memorial Race. Report by Don Hale.   The Nick Beer 10k memorial race around the Great Orme will take place on Sunday (Feb 12) with over four-hundred runners competing for honours and aiming to raise thousands of pounds for local charities. This popular event, now in its 31st year, has previously been controlled by North Wales Road runners, but this year the management has now passed to  Always Aim High , who confirm they are proud to add this event to their portfolio under the community events section.  The 10k race begins at 12 noon and will be preceded by a children’s 1k fun run with funds raised for St David’s Hospice. The main run is a not-for-profit and will continue to support local charities as well as NWRRC, and the 2023 event will support  Shine, St David’s Hospice, Ty Gobaith, and St John’s Ambulance. Top photo by    It was a bright sunny day with a bracing and very cool wind for a record number of colourful costume wearing swimmers and dippers on Llandudno Promenade on Boxing Day morning, who then braved the freezing sea temperatures to help raise thousands of pounds for local and other deserving charities. MC Ian Turner  kept the packed crowds well informed throughout the morning as usual, by updating everyone about this exciting event, which attracted many hundreds of people from miles around just to watch the mad dash into the waters.  It also turned out to be yet another grand occasion that had been sadly missed over the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions, but this year it certainly returned with a major splash! *Ian Turner (*far right) with Llandudno Lions Club members and fundraising charity officials at the Boxing Day sw

A slightly early but rather spooky Halloween style 5k Dark Run took place last Saturday night from the RSPB site near Llandudno Junction, and followed the Conwy 5k parkrun course under lights to help raise funds for Ty Gobaith and Hope House Children’s charities.
