Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk North Wales Road Runner Steve Gardner took to the track again last week and this time he travelled across the Pennines to compete for the Welsh Masters in the British Masters Indoor championships held in Sheffield. Despite an excellent performance, the record breaking veteran Welsh athlete was slightly down on his best time for this distance, and faced some stern competition.   After the event, Steve  confirmed: “I competed in the British Masters Indoor Championships last Sunday. It was a very strong MV60 age category held over two races. I finished 2nd in the B race in a time of 10.43 which meant I was 10th overall taking into consideration the times of both races. British Masters Indoor Pentathlon/3000m/open events Urgent update: Thank you for the prompt response from many people but we still need more. The survey closes at 9 am tomorrow morning.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com Dear Masters Athletes, Our indoor meeting at Sheffield has become a regular fixture in the BMAF winter season in recent years but it always a challenge because it is much more expensive than Lee Valley.  This isn't critical if we get good turnout but after making a provisional booking the venue for 26 January we have delayed making a final decision by various resourcing issues. This week is now the crunch time to confirm the event is going ahead.  We need a large turnout to make it financially viable, but we are very reluctant to cancel it. The facilities there are superb and there nothing comparable within 160 miles. Throwing champion Paul Brooks celebrated a productive day at the Telford Games last weekend...and reviews the Caernarfon half-marathon Regional championships. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Welsh Masters veteran athlete Paul Brooks, who represents Wrexham AAC, said he was very happy with a productive day at the Telford Games last Saturday, where he set three new MV75 Wrexham club records. The evergreen throwing champion competed in several T&F events and his times included: hammer, 15.12m; shot putt, 7.19m, and discus 23.94m. Paul additionally said well done to colleagues Will and Sally, and says he has his fingers crossed for another similar T&F event this weekend in Sheffield.
