  North Wales, SSSART Trawsfynydd Multi Terrain 8 Mile race. A mostly fast course with one challenging hill on a mixed tarmac and fast trail course. The Race will be under the Welsh Athletics / UK Athletics Rules. All proceeds are in aid of the South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team. The team is run entirely by volunteers, who are on callout 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help those in need in the local area. The team is a charity, dependent on donations from the public, and the proceeds of the race will provide vital funds. Starting by the Magnox Power Station Car Park at 12:00 on Sunday, 7th April 2024. Photos by John Hatton. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   The Road Runners claimed eleven prestigious North Wales championship medals last Sunday morning at the Rhyl 10-mile race, including five gold, three silver, and three bronze. In a late switch to a new venue at Abergele for the Rhyl race due to delayed renovation and flood protection workings further down the promenade, this race attracted an excellent entry of 271 club and social runners, who enjoyed a cold but sunny run along a flat and fast course. This particular event also included an associated and inclusive 5-mile race, involving a further 183 finishers, which was run at the same time, with both races well organised by RunWales, and well supported by a generous number of

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   The well organised and very popular Village Bakery half-marathon race attracted a massive entry of over 1,700 runners, at Wrexham last Sunday morning, and included numerous elite and club athletes, in addition to a plentiful amount of fun and social runners. On a fast, and relatively flat course, many runners were able to celebrate personal best (PB) times and raised funds for local and national charities. North Wales Road Runners  entered fifteen members and collected three prestigious age category awards. The first club man home again was  Jonathan Kettle  in 75th place with a new course PB in 1.15.52, followed by  Iwan Evans  (281) in 1.24.44, and  Ben Hudson  (545) in 1.35.57

Report by Don Hale.   There was a good turn-out of North Wales Road Runners and guests at the annual prize presentation and dinner held at Maesdu Golf Club last Saturday night. And following a good meal and some entertainment provided by Dani, there was a glittering display of silverware on offer for members old and new as the MC and club chairman  Kevin Slattery , enthusiastically read out all the eagerly awaited results, which included: -  Club handicap race winners  (female), Helen Hannam, and (male) winner Steve Roberts.  (Male),   Group   C  – 3rd Rob Fryer, runner-up Cai Roberts, and winner – Mark Mason.  Group B  – 3rd Kevin Higgins, runner-up Sion Thomas, and winner Ben Hudson.  Group A  – 3rd Jonathan Kettle, runner-up Iwan Evans, and winner Martin Gree

They included brothers John and David Jones, together with Paul Quentin. The trio initially intended to run at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday to celebrate Paul’s 100th parkrun, but they also wanted honour the memory of a beloved friend and a former colleague, who Dave said: “Had been sadly taken from the running community this week.” Paul won his age group during an emotional run, but confirmed, that although he is no longer a member of  Abergele Harriers , he was a member when Steve Jeffery founded the club, and ran wit

Following a tough route out from West Shore and climbing up the Orme to the old WW2 gun sites and past what’s known as ‘ Millionaires Row ,’ the runners then turned via a further muddy track before returning back to the start.
