Green light for Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k race.

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   The revised Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k will now be staged on Saturday 13th January 2024, following an absence of a few years due to delayed construction work to the promenade, and essential flood defence work at Rhos-on-Sea and at Colwyn Bay. Event organiser  Russell Godwin  from Colwyn Bay AC was delighted to finally receive the green light from Conwy CBC to revive this ever-popular local race after so many previous setbacks, and he confirmed: “ We have now been assured that works will be completed, which is why have had to leave it so late to advise everyone. We appreciate your assistance to help promote the race.” He also outlined the decision to rename this important race, adding:  “The race has been renamed following the sad passing away of  Arthur Bebbington  on

Conwy Dark Run for Children's Charities...28/10/23. This year's event is on Saturday 28th October at RSPB Conwy. This is a unique drone footage taken at night in Conwy, North Wales, on 20th October 2022, by Snapdrone on behalf of the fundraising organisers for a special 5k DARK RUN or walk from the RSPB at Conwy, to help raise funds for Hope House and Ty Gobaith Children's Charities. Conwy Dark Run 2023 – 28th October 2023 at 6:30pm.   It’s time to glow crazy and take in the delights of the Conwy Charity Dark Run, which returns for a second year on Saturday 28th October and will fundraise for Hope House and Ty Gobaith  children's  cancer  charities. You can run, jog, or walk, and join with friends, take your family, or do it solo - the choice is yours! We can’t wait to see everyone waving their glow sticks in support of seriously ill local children.  The event follows the Conwy Parkrun course - but in the dark! It starts and finishes at the RSPB Centre near Llandudno Junction and travels along the Cob towards a Conwy Castle which will be lit up in all its glory.  It then continues along the cycle path towards Deganwy before returning to the RSPB Centre.  Complete 5K amidst music, cheering spectators and finish your Dark Run to pick up your unique glow-in-the-dark medal and extra special goody bag. A statement from the organisers, states: “Always Aim High Events are proud to present a new road running event in our race calendar - the iconic  Nick Beer 10k . Top photo by    It was a bright sunny day with a bracing and very cool wind for a record number of colourful costume wearing swimmers and dippers on Llandudno Promenade on Boxing Day morning, who then braved the freezing sea temperatures to help raise thousands of pounds for local and other deserving charities. MC Ian Turner  kept the packed crowds well informed throughout the morning as usual, by updating everyone about this exciting event, which attracted many hundreds of people from miles around just to watch the mad dash into the waters.  It also turned out to be yet another grand occasion that had been sadly missed over the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions, but this year it certainly returned with a major splash! *Ian Turner (*far right) with Llandudno Lions Club members and fundraising charity officials at the Boxing Day sw

That is why our mission is to make sure that no one faces the death of a child alone, so that every family facing the death of a child gets the very best care and support when and where they need it. We need your help To give children and families Final Moments that Matter we need to raise £500,000  - the annual cost of providing the best end of life care for every child and family in this region who turns to us. A slightly early but rather spooky Halloween style 5k Dark Run took place last Saturday night from the RSPB site near Llandudno Junction, and followed the Conwy 5k parkrun course under lights to help raise funds for Ty Gobaith and Hope House Children’s charities.
