Report by Don Hale Photos by John Hatton. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Fifteen members from North Wales Road Running Club braved gale force winds and an extremely challenging 4.5-mile plus course to complete their festive handicap race on Sunday. The event started and finished by Llandudno Pier and travelled along the promenade before climbing up by the side of the Little Orme to the town’s ‘Welcome’ sign, then following an equally undulating route back home. This was not a first past-the-post race as such, with the handicap results based on the initial estimates from competing athletes on their predicted times for this race, against the actual finishing times. It also had the added restriction of being a ‘Naked Run,’ so n...

Most photos by John Hatton. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Nearly four-hundred athletes took part in the ever-popular Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k race last Saturday despite the cold weather, a cool headwind, and a massive water shortage, with severe restrictions affecting over 40,000 Conwy area residents. With no water available throughout the area, and many shops and businesses closed due to no loos, café’s, or any available washing facilities, race organisers from Colwyn Bay AC, worked miracles to ensure the event went ahead as planned with extra porta-loos provided at the start and finish, to cater for the runners, with many travelling from all parts of the UK. The event included the North Wales 10k championships, and it was run from Llandudno Pier to Colwyn B...

Report by Don Hale . https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It proved to be another interesting and exciting annual club relay competition for members of the North Wales Road Running Club last Tuesday night on Llandudno promenade. Some thirty names were initially drawn out of the hat and placed into ten relay teams of three, which introduced male, female, and mixed ages and ability runners, who each ran varied leg distances from about 1k plus, to one mile, and two miles, with the final leg involving some of the club’s top racing athletes, who generated a very close and fast finish. *Pictured above - the start of the first relay leg - and below the second leg change-over to the final sprinters, With the ages and abilities shuffled within the teams, the races constantly attracted great c...

Report by Don Hale. Most photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk The revised Arthur Bebbington Twin Piers 10k race returned to huge acclaim last Saturday following an absence of several years due to the extensive renovation and flood protection works to the promenade at Rhos on Sea and Colwyn Bay. Nearly four-hundred elite, and mixed ability athletes, many from far afield, celebrated the reinstatement of this popular challenging event from Llandudno Pier to Porth Eirias, and despite   the  rather dismal  and damp weather, enjoyed a new course, which this time included a closed section of the latest one-way road layout just below Cayley promenade.  Well organised by  Russell Godwin  and his support team from ...
