The tough Dolgarrog Pipe Dream Fell Race attracted some 165 finishers to their annual challenge last Saturday, which was part of the WFRA short championships, and won by Kieran Wynne-Cattanach (Eryri Harriers) following a great effort over this 6.8k course in just 33 minutes and 52 seconds.

He was followed by Gavin Roberts (Calder Vale RR) in 34.10, and Rhys Goodrick (Vegan Runners) in 35.02.

And the first female finisher, Bronwen Jenkinson (29th overall) secured a unique double victory for Eryri Harriers, with another fine performance in 41.06, whilst Suzie Richards claimed the runner-up spot in 42.57 (34th overall), with Jessica Evans(36th overall), and hot on Suzie’s heels in 43.24.

North Wales Road Runners entered two members, with master veteran Kevin Slattery enjoying a good run over this challenging course to finish in 87th place overall, and he was 4th in his VM70 age cat in 51.18, with colleague Adam Lemalle, also on good form, and finishing 92nd overall in 51.58.

After the race, Adam confirmed: “That was one tough 7km run, starting with over 550 steps in the first KM. I never want to see those pipes again!”

*A couple of other local athletes of note included: Michael Corrales (Dark Peak) in 12th place in 38.35, and Gwyn Williams (Colwyn Bay AAC) 83rd in 50.47.
