The family   made the long trek to Newcastle for this epic event which attracted over 60,000 entrants, including some top international athletes, with many participants often raising tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com Two members of North Wales Road Runners competed in the famous Great North Run last Sunday in some challenging conditions with heavy rain and high humidity. Lesley Goodson and Rachel Morris , made the long trek to Newcastle for the start of this epic event which attracted over 60,000 entrants, including  some  top international athletes, with many other participants raising tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. Lesley returned to road racing for the first time in several years and so she was naturally very pleased with her good time of 1.47.53 and afterwards confirmed: “My first road race since pre-Covid. Feeling pretty chuffed with myself with that.”  Rachel Morris  also enjoyed her run and confirmed that her parents, Brian and Hilda Limac...

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Road Runner Rachel Morris claimed a great new course PB by more than two-minutes at the Great North Run last Sunday, with an excellent run, despite the heat!  After her run, which she completed in 2 hours 32 minutes, she was later able to celebrate her time and performance at this spectacular event with her parents Brian and Hilda, who also took part in the race, and power-walked the route from Newcastle to South Shields in an amazing time of just 3 hours and 42 minutes. Rachel later confirmed : “It was a great race, but it took us an hour to get through the starting line. GNR officials however, put on extra water stations, and they also put crates of water all around the waiting areas in the waves. “There were 60,000 runners and it’s now the World’s biggest half marat...

Round up of races from Ruthin 5k, Nova Prestatyn parkrun, Milton  Keynes races, the Great North Run, and the Bacchus 10k wine and cheese run. Two age cat wins for Road Runners at fast Ruthin Evening 5k. Report by Don Hale.   Three North Wales Road Runners took part in the midweek Ruthin 5k evening race last Wednesday and celebrated some excellent times and claimed two age category wins. In another fast dash, end of season event that attracted 115 elite and top club runners,  Richard Eccles  was the first club man home finishing in 6th place overall and 1st in his MV50 cat in just 18 minutes and 12 seconds. *Richard Eccles (*above) had a great run in the Ruthin 5k evening race. Husband and wife endurance team  Ben  and  Sarah Ferguson Hudson  were also pleased with their performances, with  Ben  running home in 15th place in 20.17 and 6th in his MV40 cat, whilst...

Podium place for Steve Bozier at Snowdonia Epic Trail 10k race - and a great team effort. Report by Don Hale.   Five club runners took part in the highly challenging Snowdonia Epic Trail 10k race last Sunday in the rain where Steve Bozier enjoyed an exceptional run to claim a podium position as the 3rd placed finisher. *Steve Bozier put in a great performance to finish 3rd in the Snowdonia Trail race and he is pictured (*top of page) and (*above centre) in the white top appearing as a giant on the start line. Steve ran an amazing 48 minutes 53 seconds, and he was also 2nd in his respective age category.
