Gold medals for father and son Dave and Steve Gardner at the Indoor Championships.

Report by Don Hale https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com   Road Runner and super-vet Dave Gardner struck gold at the North Wales Indoor Championships at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Sunday by winning his M85 age category in the shot-put competition. Dave also improved on his previous PB and winning performance from last year when he competed in the M80 cat with a superb throw of 7.26m, which is also expected to be a national record. He later obtained a deserved podium place and collected a prestigious gold medal for his sterling efforts. Meanwhile, Dave’s son  Steve Gardner , also collected a gold medal in the Welsh Masters Indoor Championships at Cardiff on Sunday in his 800m track event with an excellent winning time of 2 minutes 20.89 seconds. *Gold medal winners Dave Gardner (*above left), with Steve Gardner.

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   NWRRC veteran track athlete Michael Finnie won his M65 age cat at the North Wales Indoor Open 60m dash at the Deeside Indoor Athletics Centre at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Saturday. He braved the challenging weather conditions en-route caused by Storm Bert, to take part in the sprint event, and he was just a fraction of second down on his previous best time, but said he was still pleased with his fine result of 11.23 seconds. After the event, he admitted that unfortunately the road conditions had restricted the number of competitors, but confirmed: “Not bad, since I haven’t been able to train much due to weather and flu the past week. I think I was a quarter of a second slower than my best.” Michael is hoping to improve...

Entries are now open for the North Wales Cross Country Championships which will be held at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, Wrexham, on Saturday 7th January 2023. The timetable of races is as follows :   11am - Under 11 Girls; 11-20am - Under 13 Girls/Under 11 Boys;   11-45am - Under 15 Girls/Under 13 Boys;12-15pm - Under 17 Women/Under 15 Boys;   1-00pm Under 20/Senior/Master Women/Under 17 Men/65+Men   2-00pm - Senior/Master Men. *For the first time, entries are on-line and are available via the following link:   https://www.entrycentral.com/North_Wales_CC_Champs   North Wales Indoor Championships at Deeside. Don retains 60m title with new PB at North Wales Indoor championships.

Don retains 60m title with new PB at North Wales Indoor championships. *Don Hale with his gold medal at Deeside in the Masters 60m dash. NWRRC Master veteran runner   Don Hale   claimed a great new PB time of 11.15 seconds and retained his Regional Championships age cat title with a gold medal performance in the Masters 60m dash held at the North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre at Coleg Cambria, Deeside, last Sunday afternoon. Don, now 69, previously won the M65-69 age cat race in 2020, and said he was pleased to retain his sprint title after two years of pandemic restrictions, and this victory moved his age ranking from Welsh No 2, to No 1, at least for a few weeks.  https://www.thepowerof10.info/rankings/rankinglist.aspx?event=60&agegroup=V65&sex=M&iyear=2022&areaid=93
