Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Two talented students competed for honours at Conwy parkrun last Saturday with Bryn Woodall (Colwyn Bay AC) eventually outsprinting his rival Harri Jackson (Manchester Metro University AC) to claim the first place with an incredible time of just 15 minutes and 54 seconds. Bryn , who is on leave from his studies in America, narrowly failed to match his record on this picturesque but challenging 5k course, but still finished over a minute clear to additionally win his SM20-24 age category.  *American student Bryn Woodall (*above) was the first man back home at the Conwy parkrun last weekend. Harri  was 2nd in the same age cat as Bryn in 17.11, with veteran  Bryn Carrington  claiming the 3rd spot, and winning his MV40 cat in 17.33. There were 229 finishers. For the l

Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Conwy parkrun again attracted a good number of talented young athletes and visitors from across the UK, in addition to the usual mix of club and social runners, who all enjoyed a fast dash over this picturesque route despite very hot conditions. The first male runner back over this bumpy and bone-dry, out-and-back course, was promising young teenage athlete  Bryn Woodall,   (*pictured above right),  who has recently returned home from America for a break, where he is currently studying.  The talented SM18 age cat winner who represents  Colwyn Bay AC , celebrated another worthy victory in just 16 minutes dead, and he was more than a minute ahead of his nearest rival, visitor  Liam Busby  ( Wycombe Phoenix AC ) who finished 2nd in 17.06. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Colwyn Bay athlete Bryn Woodall was the first runner back at a very heavy Conwy parkrun on Saturday, where the talented teenager celebrated another superb result and his 100th parkrun, during a break from his studies and running adventures in America. Bryn also won his SM18 age cat and incredibly, he dashed around this saturated course in just 15 minutes and 38 seconds - which is the third fastest time ever - and he finished the best part of three minutes ahead of his nearest senior rival  Jonathan Kettle  from  NWRRC , who finished 2nd overall in 18.21, with JM15-17 runner  Ciaran Keyworth , 3rd in 18.59.  *Bryn Woodall (*above left) with Jonathan Kettle, who ran very well but had to settle for second place to Bryn. Bananaman finished ahead of the bunch at Conwy’s Christmas parkrun - plus double win for Stuart and Joe at Ruthin. Special report and festive photos by Don Hale. It was a unique experience at Conwy’s Christmas parkrun last Saturday when Bananaman, aka local athlete and Durham University student Morgan Kendall became the first runner back wearing a bright yellow costume and finished just thirteen seconds ahead of the chasing bunch! The teenage prospect initially dominated the 5k event but in the end nearly let it slip, and only won by the skin of his teeth, as he was pursued by several other similarly talented youngsters, who were enjoying a festive break. The parkrun also turned out to be a very colourful and joyous occasion and attracted 230 runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, with the majority dressed in special Christmas outfits Morgan   Kendall   (*pictured top of page) , won his SM18 age cat with a new course PB of 17 minutes and 36 seconds, with  Matthew Baker  2nd wit

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Bryn Woodall was the first man home at last Saturday’s Conwy parkrun with another fine performance to easily outsprint his rivals with a fast time of 17 minutes 37 seconds. The Colwyn Bay athlete who is back home from his American studies for the summer also won his SM18 age cat and finished almost thirty-seconds ahead of his second-placed chaser  Matthew Baker  in 18.06, with Road Runner  Steve Mason  third in 18.45. *Steve Mason (*above) back to his best after injury. The 1st Ladies title was again claimed by the super-fast  Alice Johnston  (Les Croupiers), who finished 7th overall with a great new PB 19.14, to also claim 1st place in her SW30 age cat, and it was another family double with Alice’s father  Sandy Johnston  winning his MV70 cat in a remarkable time of just 22.42. *Alice  Johnston (*above left) and her father

Most photos by Steve Jeffery.   There was a good turn-out of both club runners and visitors to Conwy parkrun last Saturday where NWRRC athlete Josh Keogh claimed another narrow victory despite a brave challenge from Colwyn Bay teenager Bryn Woodall. Josh faced a cat and mouse challenge throughout the 5k dash from his exceptional rival and just managed to win the event by two seconds following a sprint finish. He was one of thirteen club colleagues and two juniors with the team also winning five age cat awards. Josh  recorded a time of 17 minutes and 14 seconds and won his SM30-34 age cat, with  Bryn  also winning his own SM18-19 cat in 17.16, followed by another promising young athlete,  Harri Jackson  (Manchester Metropolitan University AC) in 17.50.
