Friday 6 – Sunday 8 November 2026
Premier League • Championship • Scottish Premiership
Welcome to the second edition of Don Hale's Football Predictions!
Following a promising opening edition, with seven correct match results from nine on Tuesday and six from six on Wednesday night, we're back with another weekend of football forecasts.
I've selected matches from three competitions, added my own predicted scores and compared some of the selections with independent statistical forecasts.
As always, these are my opinions. Let's see how they fare!
PREMIER LEAGUE
Friday 6 November
Everton v Coventry City – 2–1
Saturday 7 November
Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur – 1–1
Arsenal v Hull City – 3–0
Fulham v Newcastle United – 1–2
Nottingham Forest v Manchester City – 1–3
Sunday 8 November
Brighton v Brentford – 2–2
Crystal Palace v Liverpool – 1–2
Ipswich Town v Bournemouth – 1–2
Sunderland v Chelsea – 1–2
Manchester United v Aston Villa – 2–1
The statistical comparison
Forebet's published model favours Everton against Coventry, Manchester City at Nottingham Forest, Arsenal against Hull and Liverpool at Crystal Palace.
It also predicts a draw between Leeds and Spurs, and Brighton and Brentford. Interestingly, its forecast for Manchester United v Aston Villa favours Villa, whereas I've given United the home advantage.
These differences make for an interesting weekend comparison!
CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE PREDICTIONS.
Friday 6 November
Derby County v Bolton Wanderers – 2–1
Saturday 7 November
Bristol City v Norwich City – 2–1
Portsmouth v Stoke City – 1–1
Wrexham v Wolverhampton Wanderers – 1–2
Birmingham City v Swansea City – 2–1
Blackburn Rovers v West Ham United – 1–2
Cardiff City v Burnley – 1–2
Charlton Athletic v Sheffield United – 1–1
Preston North End v Southampton – 1–2
Queens Park Rangers v Lincoln City – 2–1
Watford v Middlesbrough – 1–2
West Bromwich Albion v Millwall – 2–1
The Championship is notoriously difficult to forecast, with closely matched teams and plenty of potential for surprises. Wrexham against Wolves and Preston against Southampton are two fixtures I'll be watching particularly closely.
SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP
Saturday 7 November
Dundee United v Motherwell – 2–1
St Johnstone v Dundee – 1–1
Aberdeen v Hibernian – 2–1
St Mirren v Rangers – 1–2
Sunday 8 November
Hearts v Falkirk – 2–1
Celtic v Kilmarnock – 3–1
Scottish statistical comparison
Published forecasts from Football-Stats favour Dundee United, Rangers, Hearts and Celtic in their respective fixtures. They also highlight Dundee's recent scoring form and Hibernian's difficult run.
My predictions broadly agree on several outcomes, although I've gone for a closer contest in the Hearts v Falkirk match.
DON HALE'S GOLDEN GOAL
The Golden Goal is our light-hearted first-goalscorer selection, together with a predicted minute.
Selection to be confirmed after the starting line-ups are available.
I don't want to guess at players who may not even start!
THE RESULTS TRACKER
Last edition: 7 correct results from 9 matches on Tuesday and 6 from 6 on Wednesday.
This weekend we'll again record:
Correct match outcomes.
Exact-score successes.
Golden Goal results, where a selection is made.
We'll keep the record honest and include the misses as well as the hits!
