Christmas charity donations to Ty Hapus food bank from NW Road Runners...plus race bonus funds for St David's Hospice,

Following the event, members donated a variety of food items to a popular local foodbank, and Martin later confirmed: “Another donation gratefully received by Ty Hapus Community Resource Centre & Foodbank from  North Wales Road Runners Club after our annual Christmas handicap  race. “Huge thanks to all that donated, and also a big thank you for all the volunteers at Ty Hapus for their invaluable help for the community. ” *This is my blog report from the NWRRC

Llyr won a surprise victory at the hilly Bangor 10k race.

Report by Don Hale. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Travelling Road Runner Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts was the surprise winner of the hilly Bangor 10k race last Sunday. The East Midlands based athlete finished just 15-seconds ahead of his nearest rival and won his MV45 age cat in just 37 minutes and 3 seconds. Llyr (*pictured left) led home a NWRRC team of eight runners amongst an entry of some 198 finishers, with five members recording podium places including four runners, who also won their respective age categories.   After the race Llyr admitted his surprise at his outstanding victory. He said: “ The race was great as I won, but I went into it with the sole purpose of just doing a course PB, and then see what would happen, so I was surprised when I crossed the line first!” Llyr’s colleague  Harry

Seven members of NWRRC entered the new Caernarfon half-marathon last Sunday with two club runners finishing in the top-ten, and Jonathan Kettle enjoyed a podium finish in 3rd place. Jonathan also won his VM45-49 age category and confirmed a steady performance to clinch his bronze medal placing in 1 hour 17 minutes and 22 seconds. He was closely followed by  Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts , who was back on his home patch again and finished 5th overall and 2nd VM45-49 in 1.21.43. *Jonathan Kettle with leading runners at the Caernarfon half-marathon. Five NWRRC runners tackled tough Snowdonia half-marathon.

Five club runners tackled tough Snowdonia half-marathon. Report by Don Hale. Photographs by Jonathan Kettle.   NWRRC had five intrepid athletes competing in the gruelling Snowdonia half-marathon last Sunday, which is said to offer one of the toughest challenges in the country. Run along a very scenic route and set in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, the race included wild, and rocky-mountains, hidden valleys, and deep forests, and it both started and finished at Llanrwst, which hosted the World Trail running championships in 2013.  Previous feedback from runners suggested the course should be a little more challenging, so event organisers took out a section of the course to and from Trefriw, and re-routed it straight up to Llyn Geirionydd, before travelling up and over Llyn Crafnant. Stuart Culverhouse  (*pictured top of page) was the first club runner back in 30th place overall in a very impressive time of 1 hour 44 minutes 41 seconds, and he later described the event as ‘brutal
