Report by Don Hale. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk It was another busy weekend on the road for several members of the North Wales Road Runners including Jamie Tharme's trip to Rome for the marathon. Jamie Tharme  competed in the  Rome Marathon  on Sunday and enjoyed his run, finishing well in 3 hours and 52 minutes.  After the race he said : “Rome marathon, nice and chilled taking in the sights, but that extra 1.5km was the hardest few miles of my life. It was tough in that heat too, but the views were spectacular !" Carla back in action at the Nantwich 10k. *Nantwich: Carla Green  made a welcome return to racing after a long absence and performed well to finish in 114th place overall in 42.57 in the Nantwich 10k, and she also claimed the 2nd spot in her FV50 age cat. *Pictured above - Carla Green

Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   It was a very cold and crisp at Conwy parkrun last Saturday morning where fourteen Road Runners took part in this popular event, despite an afternoon cross-country fixture at Shrewsbury, and some other competing fixtures. The NWRRC team packed well and collected four senior age category wins, one junior victory, plus four second places, and they also recorded a major PB time over this challenging 5k course, which again attracted some quality club and visiting social runners. Josh Keogh  returned to parkrun with a superb performance in 4th place, and he was 2nd in his SM30 age cat in just 18 minutes and 3-seconds. Photos by Steve Jeffery.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   In stark contrast to previous weeks, it was bright, warm, and sunny at the Conwy parkrun, which attracted numerous visitors for a bumper turn-out on a challenging 5k course. Promising young travelling athlete  Harri Jackson  (Manchester Metro University AC) stole the show again with another tremendous performance as the first finisher in just 17 minutes and 12 seconds, and he also claimed the top spot in his SM20 age category. He was closely followed by MV45 cat winner  Matthew Baker , despite a superb new PB of 17.44, with  Lewis Hall  the 3rd finisher, with another PB in 19.18 and the 1st SM18 cat winner. The event recorded 244 finishers, with the first 9 runners all dipping under 20-minutes. The 1st female finisher was talented youngster  Bethan B

Report by Don Hale . https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Three members of North Wales Road Runners competed in the Sale Sizzler 5k race last Thursday night which included a quality field of 642 elite and top cub runners. Martin Green  enjoyed another great run and finished 37th overall and he was 3rd in his MV45 age category in a fast chip time of 16 minutes and 19 seconds.  Will Williams  continued his excellent form in 87th place, and he was 4th in his MV50 cat in 17.35, with  Jamie Tharme  223rd in 20.24. This popular summer event again attracted a massive field and incredibly there was only a matter of a few seconds between the top nine athletes, with the first twenty-seven runners all dipping under sixteen seconds.  The overall race was won by  Nicholas Barry  (Sale Harriers) in 15.00, with  Thomas Charles  (Chorlton Runners) 2nd in 1

NWRRC entered fifteen athletes and recorded five podium places in the main race, including one age category win, three second, and one third; and in addition they also claimed nine prestigious North Wales medals, including five gold, in the associated regional championships, which was run in conjunction with this same

Photos by Steve Jeffery   North Wales Road Runner Josh Keogh was the outstanding winner of the Colwyn Bay Metric Marathon last Sunday, finishing almost two minutes ahead of his nearest rival. The popular all-round athlete, who combines road races, with fell running, trail, and endurance events, set a hot pace throughout despite a blustery headwind, and proved a worthy champion of this challenging  Metric Marathon , which also proved to be an ideal warm-up for the forthcoming London (full) Marathon. Starting from the athletics track at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, this event attracted some 425 mixed ability finishers from across the UK, over a new and testing course, that became a race of two halves due to a strong and persistent sea breeze. *(Above) Some of the NWRRC  members  at the

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   Conwy parkrun managed to dodge the snow last weekend, but numbers were down slightly due to a late thaw that still left the threat of ice on this problematic 5k course. Despite some potential problems, visiting athlete  Ian Lawton  (Mersey Triathlon) kept up a good pace and was the first man home in 19 minutes and 8 seconds, and he was nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival  Alun Brown (GOG Triathlon), who finished 2nd in 18.24, with  Alan Bryson  3rd in 18.57. The first female finisher was  Jackie Lee  on her course debut. She was 12th overall in 20.49, with  Ellie Leonard  17th and the 2nd female in 21.34. And  Becky Sleath  (Newcastle University) was the 3rd female runner in 21st place overall in 22.02. *Will Williams (*above left) and Jamie Tharme at Conwy.
