What a tremendous season for Juliet Sidney, the Pocket Rocket, and a  medal winning sprinter with Welsh Masters Athletics and Team GB. *Juliet Sidney (*above) has enjoyed a remarkably successful season.   I have added Juliet Sidney's Facebook remarks to show her remarkable consistency at several major international and home championships in recent times, together with her diary notes:   This week, the talented athlete - know as the Pocket Rocket, concluded: “That's a wrap. Conwy Charity Dark Run for Hope House and Ty Gobaith children's cancer charities – 28th October 2023 at 6:30pm.

Conwy Dark Run 2023 – 28th October 2023 at 6:30pm.   It’s time to glow crazy and take in the delights of the Conwy Charity Dark Run, which returns for a second year on Saturday 28th October and will fundraise for Hope House and Ty Gobaith  children's  cancer  charities. You can run, jog, or walk, and join with friends, take your family, or do it solo - the choice is yours! We can’t wait to see everyone waving their glow sticks in support of seriously ill local children.  The event follows the Conwy Parkrun course - but in the dark! It starts and finishes at the RSPB Centre near Llandudno Junction and travels along the Cob towards a Conwy Castle which will be lit up in all its glory.  It then continues along the cycle path towards Deganwy before returning to the RSPB Centre.  Complete 5K amidst music, cheering spectators and finish your Dark Run to pick up your unique glow-in-the-dark medal and extra special goody bag. Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   North Wales Road Runner Jon Evans enjoyed a great run in the popular Berlin Marathon in Germany last Sunday and said he was pleased with both his time and his pacing splits during this prestigious event. This was Jon’s fifth Berlin race, and this time he welcomed good weather conditions and used this marathon as the ideal preparation for the forthcoming Chester marathon.  *Jon Evans is pictured above at the  famous  Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The veteran endurance athlete completed this interesting but undulating course in just 4 hours and 5 minutes, and he praised the support of his fitness coaches for this performance following a period of heavy training. Road Runners claimed six age category wins at Conwy parkrun.

Photos by Steve Jeffery.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Over two hundred mixed ability athletes took part in last Saturday’s Conwy parkrun with many participants travelling from far and wide to enjoy this puddle-filled but picturesque 5k course. North Wales Road  Runners  entered fourteen members and collected six age category victories in addition to three second places and three third, with many enjoying much improved times despite the very wet conditions underfoot.  Will Williams  was the pick of the team finishing 2nd overall with another good run in 18 minutes and 37 seconds to win his MV50 cat. He was followed by  Will Evans  7th with a new PB of 20.13, and won his MV40 age cat, whilst  Stuart Culverhouse  remained hot on his heels throughout, and was just one-second behind W

Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Endurance athlete Karl Morris competed well in the challenging Pedol Peris half fell race last Saturday. This tough run included 1,461m of elevation and was run over about 14k of varied terrain.  After the event, NWRRC member Karl said:  “I competed in the Pedol Peris half-race which started in Llanberis. It’s a classic local fell race. Not my best but getting back from injury and a great morning on the tops. New field volunteers wanted for Welsh Masters Athletics events – with Tempo time credits offered as a reward!

New field volunteers wanted for Welsh Masters Athletics events – with Tempo time credits offered as a reward! Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   Welsh Masters Athletics are looking for some new field volunteers to help-out at some future WMAL championship events.  Chris Pruski from WMAL  says he is looking for at least ten new recruits to assist him at various events and confirmed that he is now able to offer some special incentives, such as special Tempo time credits!  He explained: “I set up Tempo time credits to recruit volunteers for WMAL champs, however with so many cancellations this season, I was unable to recruit any.  “I would like to recruit at least ten for indoor events, and then for next season. WMAL will need admin, as well as field volunteers. “The v olunteers can sign up  (*via the link below ), attend our events, and then obtain credits to the available offers including days out, shopping, or whatever else is on off

Notice of Annual General Meeting on Saturday 25 November 2023 at 11.00am by Zoom. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the British Masters Athletic Federation will take place on Saturday 25 November 2023.    The meeting will be held on “Zoom” and joining details will be circulated later. The Agenda for the meeting will be circulated at a later date.  Any items for the Agenda should be submitted to the Hon Secretary as soon as possible, and on or before 25 October 2023. *Just to clarify, the November meeting is the British Masters Athletics AGM, the October meeting is the BMAF services AGM.    Please Note:   BMAF Constitution All members of Constituent Associations and Clubs may attend the AGM and vote.  A two thirds majority is required for amendments to the constitution, other motions a simple majority.
