Most photos by Steve Jeffery.   Club newcomer Alastair Canaway was the first man home at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday as the club celebrated four age category wins and six podium placings in another fast and furious encounter. The NWRRC athlete   continued his recent impressive form to secure a narrow victory and additionally won his MV35 age cat with a new course PB of 18 minutes and 1 second.  This event again attracted plenty of additional club and social runners from across the UK, and yet, despite a fierce encounter for honours,  Alastair  just managed to stay ahead of the chasing pack, with  Aled Hughes  2nd in 18.24, and  Alison Campbell  (Sheffield University) 3rd, and the 1st Lady with a great PB of 18.32.  With Alison claiming the top female place,  Hayley Cooke  (Cheltenham & County) took t

TELFORD 10K - exclusive match report courtesy of NW road race team manager Paul Brooks from NWRAC. So, the final opportunity for the North Wales road running athletes to represent the Region was on 11th December, at the Telford 10km. This race is advertised as England’s fastest and has a justifiable reputation for not only having a fast, traffic-free course but a field of exceptionally quick athletes.  However, a mixture of injuries and unavailability (including four withdrawals in the week before the race) meant two men, Andy Bromley and Nick Brook , were co-opted into the men’s team literally hours before the start. The day was cold, with temperatures hovering around zero and just below, but the course had been gritted both the day before and in places on the morning of the race, so was declared safe to go ahead. However, it started to snow during wave one and turned into a heavy downfall as the morning progressed, gradually stopping towards the end of wave three. To illustrate the

Photos by Steve Jeffery.   One hundred and fifty mixed ability runners braved a cold but clear morning at Conwy parkrun last Saturday where a trio of North Wales Road Runners claimed three out of the top four finishing places. Josh Keogh  continued his recent domination of this challenging 5k event and this week, apart from being the 1st runner home, he also set a hot pace and recorded an incredible new personal best time of just 17 minutes and 1 second to win his SM30 age cat. Josh  led a team of eleven NWRRC club members, who recorded nine podium places overall including four wins, three second, and two third place finishes.  Martin Green  was 2nd in 17.56, and he won his MV45 cat, but he was pushed all the way by  Matthew Baker,  who was just one second adrift in 3rd place in 17.57, with Martin’s club colleague  Steve Mason  4th, an

Report by Don Hale. Most photographs by Steve Jeffery.   Conwy parkrun witnessed a keen battle for top placings by a host of elite athletes on a near perfect morning at the RSPB site, where several records were smashed, and fast times recorded. And despite three superb parkrun PBs by North Wales runners  Martin Green ,  Josh Keogh , and  Mark Jessett , all were unable to match the fast pace of the 1st placed visiting man  Jonathan Goringe.                                   *PB time for Josh Keogh at Conwy. Goringe from Birchfield Harriers easily won the challenge and also set a new course record for his M30-34 age cat, finishing 51 seconds ahead of  Martin Green  in 16 minutes and 6 seconds, although Martin won his VM45-49 cat in 16.57, and  Josh Keogh  finished 3rd in 17.48, and was 2nd in his M30-34 c
