Penrhyn Castle Dark Run raised about £10k for children's hospices...plus this week's Dark Run preview at Conwy.

One of the event organisers and MC  John Hatton  later confirmed: “ Penrhyn Dark Run  last night. I went to the morning parkrun, then back as MC for the Dark Run, which was an absolutely fantastic evening.  We had so many volunteers, which made it so special all around the course, and we were overwhelmed by the response.  “Out of interest the provisional amount raised at Penrhyn was £10k and just looking forward to my next role at  Conwy Dark Run  on Saturda...

Well organised by  John Hatton  and  Carla Green  from  North Wales Road Runners , this popular annual 5-mile race from Deganwy Quay to the RSPB Nature Reserve, and back via Conwy Cob, always attracts over 350-plus mixed ability runners who raise thousands of pounds for charity. The main charity includes generous donations to Children’s Cancer charities, and for the past few years it has been run in memory of a young local student Rohan Ingley, who sadly lost his life due to cancer, and has been known as 'Rohan's Run.' *Deganwy Dash race official John Hatton (*above) with Beverly Miles Chance meeting at Tesco led to Beverly donating funds to Deganwy Dash cancer charities in memory of her mother.  Report by Don Hale.   A chance meeting in Tesco at Llandudno Junction this week by joint Deganwy Dash race official John Hatton with checkout worker Beverly Miles led to a surprise but welcome cash donation towards children’s cancer charities. John, who has helped to organise and promote this popular 5-mile Dash for many years with NWRRC colleague Carla Green, said this year’s event, which will be held tonight (Friday 24th June) at 7pm, will now be known as Rohan’s Run, in memory of an extraordinary young student, Rohan Ingley, who tragically  lost his long battle with leukaemia in August 2018, aged just 17. *Rohan Ingley (*above), who tragically lost his life in August 2018. Athletes and supporters of North Wales Road Runners had fun in the sun last Sunday as they competed in a special 5-mile relay challenge on Llandudno promenade in aid of CLIC Sargent, and Leukaemia in Children charities. Some twenty-six runners took part in this unique fundraising event in memory of an extraordinary young student, Rohan Ingley, and included five teams of four, plus a guide, each completing 1.25 miles (2k), and one team of five “virtual” runners each running a mile. The weather too proved a hit for all the runners, and a host of supporters and sponsors, with the relay bathed throughout in bright, and very warm sunshine.  The race, organised by club officials John Hatton and Carla Green, with essential timekeeper Liz Driscoll, proved to be a real fun occasion, with many runners recording PB’s over this unusual sprint distance.  The winning team was Team 1, who co...
