Good turn-out for the midweek Felinheli 10k race.

Report by Don Hale . https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   There was a very good turn-out of members from North Wales Road Runners at the annual Felinheli 10k race last Wednesday, which attracted a bumper entry of some 325 club and social runners on a bright and breezy evening. Martin Green  was back to his best and he finished in 2nd place overall and won his M40 age cat in style in just 35 minutes and 34 seconds, and he was one of five club runners amongst 21 entrants, who claimed podium places, including three age category wins, and two third place finishes.  Will Evans  was pleased with 20th place in 41.03, and he was 4th in his M40 cat.  Stuart   Culverhouse  on top form in 28th place in 42.14, and he was 3rd in his M50 cat, whilst  Iwan Evans  was 31st in 42.51, but he was chased all...

Report by Don Hale.   https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   There was a good turnout from North Wales Road Runners amongst a quality entry of about three-hundred top club and social runners at the Felinheli 10k race last Wednesday night. Despite a very hilly and undulating course, and run mainly over rough tracks, forest trails, and some normally restricted private roads, many athletes still reported personal best times on another warm and humid evening. Adam Jones  (Meirionnydd RC) was the overall race winner following a superb run with an excellent chip time of just 32 minutes and 36 seconds to additionally win his Senior Male age cat.  Ifan Dafydd  (Eryri Harriers) claimed 2nd spot, and second prize in the same cat as Adam in 32.50, whilst the highly talented local y...

Report by Don Hale.  Photographs by Natasha Kettle and Gwyl y Felinheli Festival.   The Ras Gwyl Felinheli Festival 10k race returned with a bumper turn-out last Wednesday as nearly 250 top club and social runners took part in this challenging event on a warm and near perfect evening. Delayed since 2019 due to numerous pandemic restrictions, this is probably one of the toughest half-marathons in North Wales with competitors having to battle a very challenging course and run mainly off-road, and along numerous steep trails, and through dense woodland. The overall race proved very tight at the sharp end with  Adam Jones  from event hosts Eryri Harriers, eventually taking the honours to win in 32 minutes and 57 seconds, with  Tomos Jones  (Meirionyydd RC), 2nd in 33.14, and  Ifan Dafydd  3rd in 32.26.
