Report by Don Hale.  https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   In stark contrast to last week’s icy 5k course at Conwy parkrun, this time some 229 starters faced a cold blustery wind, but the event welcomed a large contingent from Porth Eirias Runners, and numerous ‘Couch to 5k’ participants. North Wales Road Runners  entered twelve members with  Josh Keogh  being the first man home overall on an unusually dry but challenging course with a fast time of 17 minutes and 33 seconds. The club also celebrated four first placed age cat victories, four second, and two third placings. Josh also won his SM30 age cat, and he was more than a minute ahead of the second placed finishers and debutants,  Cameron Morris  in 18.42, and  Ed Slaughter  third in 18.43. Cameron won his SM20 cat, and Ed additionally won his SM18 age cat.

Photos by Steve Jeffery. https://donhaleblog.blogspot.com www.welshmastersathletics.co.uk   There was another large entry for the Conwy Bank Holiday parkrun last Saturday which again attracted a host of mixed ability social and club runners from all parts of the UK and abroad. Run in bright, and very warm sunshine, visiting athlete  Alastair Campbell  (Stroud & District AC) soon set a hot pace over this picturesque but dusty 5k course, and he was the 1st runner home in 17 minutes and 23 seconds, and won his MV35 age cat.  Despite a strong challenge throughout,  Alastair  remained narrowly ahead of Road Runner  Mark Jessett  who finished in 2nd place overall in 17.53 and 2nd MV35 cat, with  David Clarke  3rd and 1st MV40 cat with a PB of 18.09.  There were 316 finishers. Praise too was given to MV70 master vet

Photos Steve Jeffery.   It was bright and breezy at Conwy parkrun last Saturday where an increased number of top club and social runners enjoyed the excellent weather to record some fast times and new PBs. Adam Jones  was the first man home over this picturesque 5k course in just 16 minutes 59 seconds, with  Tom Carter  just 3 seconds behind, despite a new PB time of 17.02, with  Osian Griffiths  3rd in 18.59. The first lady was the speedy  Alice Johnson  (Les Croupiers), who finished 7th overall in 19.27. *Pictured above, super master vets Sandy  Johnston  (*left) and Roger Harrison Jones both ran well at the Conwy parkrun. The parkrun attracted another bumper turnout of 234 runners from across the UK, and it also welcomed back a couple of remarkable ‘super’ veterans in  Sandy Johnston  (Les Croupiers), a highly respected MV70
