This not-for-profit event will continue to support local charities as well as the North Wales Road Runners Club. Starting on the iconic Victorian promenade in Llandudno, the route takes runners around the awe-inspiring Great Orme with its stunning views of Eryri (Snowdonia), Anglesey and beyond. With hundreds of runners taking part year after year, it is a fabulous start to the running season. *GOG athlete Craig Rutter (*above) returned to action at  the Nick Beer 10k race and he was one of many GOG Triathlon members who ran last Sunday. Nick Beer 10k charity success as GOG Triathlon runners tackled the Orme in bright sunshine. Report by Don Hale.    Over five-hundred mixed ability runners enjoyed bright sunshine and some spectacular scenery around the Great Orme in Llandudno last Sunday for the ever-popular Nick Beer 10k race. The large crowds of tourists and supporters on the promenade were treated to a feast of entertainment as the mass ranks quickly dashed past the pier and began the challenging ascent and later descent of the Orme prior to returning to the start via Church Walks. There was a large turnout of GOG Triathlon athletes and  Grant Little  was the first club home on 38.05 and he also won his MV40 age cat, with  Jonathan Seymour  close behind in 17th place and 2nd in the same age cat as grant in 38.14, and  Keith Quinton  was the 3rd GOG runner in 39.48. The event also welcomed a special 1k fun run for children and parents on the prom with proceeds donated towards  St David’s Hospice . And the 10k race that followed the junior race also raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities including  Shine, Ty Gobaith, St John’

Report by Don Hale.   North Wales Road Runners received generous plaudits this week from officials at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno after raising more than £2,000 during the popular Nick Beer 10k race earlier this year. A Hospice official confirmed: “Many thanks to NWRRC, who organised the Nick Beer event in February this year, with the proceeds being donated to St David’s Hospice.  “Over 600 runners took part in the 10k following a route around the Great Orme, and 40 fun runners, along with 30 family members, ran the 1k fun run prior to the main event on the promenade. “In total, the event raised £2,306, which included a donation of £1,500 from NWRRC, from the race, and St David’s Hospice would like to thank Kay and John Hatton, Carla Green, and all at North Wales Road Runners, who helped to run and support the day. Fundraising 1k Fun Run for St David’s Hospice on Llandudno prom at Nick Beer 10k memorial race. Report by Don Hale.    St David’s Hospice will be staging a fundraising 1k fun run for children just before the start of the Nick Beer 10k race on Sunday 13th February. The event will be run along Llandudno promenade and all  participants will also receive a medal. This event is part of the Nick Beer 10K road race which now commemorates its 30th year. The fun run is open to all age groups, and entry is just £5 which is payable on the day at the race HQ within Venue Cymru or via St David’s fundraising office (*see details below). All proceeds from the event will go towards St David’s Hospice. The Fun run start 11.30am in conjunction with the North Wales Road Runners. Registration starts from 10.30am at Venue Cymru. NICK BEER 10K SOLD OUT - NO MORE ENTRIES AVAILABLE - BUT STILL A 1K CHILDREN'S FUN RUN Report by Don Hale The ever-popular Nick Beer 10k race has now SOLD OUT with no more places available, but entries still remain for the 1k children's FUN RUN (*See below). Joint race organiser Kay Hatton said today that they have now reached their 500-limit, and added that Matt Clowes, a previous winner, has entered and is predicting a sub-30!’  Race entries for the 10k closed on Tuesday 5th July when the final seven entries were received for the event on  Sunday July 18th (10am start) which always  attracts hundreds of runners from across the UK, and beyond, to enjoy the scenic splendours of a challenging course around Llandudno’s Great Orme.  Starting and finishing opposite the Imperial Hotel and at the REVISED START TIME OF 10am, this will be the 29th annual run to help commemorate the life of a well-known former local athlete, Nick Beer, who sadly passed away in 1992, aged just 27, afte
