Urgent update: Thank you for the prompt response from many people but we still need more. The survey closes at 9 am tomorrow morning.

Dear Masters Athletes,

Our indoor meeting at Sheffield has become a regular fixture in the BMAF winter season in recent years but it always a challenge because it is much more expensive than Lee Valley.

This isn't critical if we get good turnout but after making a provisional booking the venue for 26 January we have delayed making a final decision by various resourcing issues. This week is now the crunch time to confirm the event is going ahead.

We need a large turnout to make it financially viable, but we are very reluctant to cancel it. The facilities there are superb and there nothing comparable within 160 miles. If all goes well this year, then we can sure as we can be to continue with it each year thereafter.

*Please use this link to register your interest in attending the meeting.

After logging into Open Track please tell us which events you wish to compete in and give us the answers to a few related questions.

The webpage for this meeting also gives you the details of the provisional timetable and provisional entry fees for all the events. There is no need to confirm your responses that you have given on the form and please ignore references to the prices in the form itself.

*Please complete the form as soon as you read this email so that within the next 48 hours, we can use the results of this survey to determine if it is viable to stage the event and if it is we intend then to release the entry prices and final timetable for the day.

Hopefully this can be sorted by the close of this week (13/12/24). We will then notify everyone that the event is going ahead, and entries will be open using an adapted version of the same link.

Several of the supplementary question on the form need a little explanation:

  • Can you provide us with a contact who can help us set up links to British Masters Athletics in the social media channels your club uses? We can then keep you informed of all that is happening automatically.
  • Even if you are not able to attend this time, would you be interested next year, either as staging open events again or make it a North of England Masters Championship with medals awarded in each event/age group?
  • Did this email reach your Inbox without any problem?
  • We need to know if it only goes to your junk folder despite our efforts to become a "safe sender."
  • Just to reassure you, all our emails are targeted towards those who have opted to receive them, and we segment the emails according to the type of athletics the message relates to.

It would also help if you can forward this message to any other athletes, you know who have not previously competed in a British Masters track and field competition, since the open events are a great way to give it try.

Regards
