An important win for Kinmel Bay in seven-goal thriller.


Kinmel Bay FC (4) v Llandudno Junction FC (3) at Y Morfa 30th Nov 2024.

An important win for KBFC in this very closely fought league match placing KBFC 7th and Junction 5th with the postponed Mochdre (2nd in league) game to be played. 


Looking back to previous Junction matches in Jan the Bay win was 5-3; in March Bay lost 3-2, in April Bay won1-0 so these are closely fought and intense matches well played by good teams and this being no exception with 7 goals netted in total.

The photos are in match sequence and most goals are included. Some injury time added time to the match; Connor Morris opened the score for KBFC with the first of his 3 goals when assisted by Sean Sheridan in the 29th minute for Junction to soon equalise then take the lead when Jack Nettleton assisted by Tomos Rhys-Williams scored on the 33rd minute and Jack Williams assisted by David Maddock scored in the 44th minute to be quickly equalised by Connor Morris assisted by Jordan Bellham so 2-2 at half time.

A good group of supporters enjoyed the match with hot food and refreshments at the Y Morfa Stadium Kinmel Bay. Early in the second half Jack Williams assisted by Jack Nettleton put Junction in the lead a position held until Connor Morris scored a penalty in extra time 91 minute. The Bays winning 4th goal came from Dominic Holland who was brought into the match on 75th minute Holland was assisted by Liam Jones in the 95th minute with just 7-minutes to play.

Conwy photos by Michael (Pat) Finnie. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   It was wild wet and very windy at the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun and at most other North Wales events last Saturday morning with entrants later praising the hard-working run directors, volunteers, and marshalls for turning out on such a challenging day. Once again, the visiting speed merchants ignored the conditions to record numerous top 5k finishing times, but  James Yarwood  (Wrexham AAC) and his sturdy twin-buggy claimed first place yet again with a fast finish in just 18 minutes and 5 seconds.  Quite remarkably, the first six finishers all dipped under 19 minutes with JM15-17 athlete  Joe Culverhouse  (NWRRC) taking the second spot with a determined effort, and he was only two seconds adrift of James, with  Sion Hill  ...

John and Michelle’s emotional run at the Pisa ‘Leaning Tower’ race. Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   GOG Triathlon couple John and Michelle Farrell finally recovered from their recent injury problems to compete in the spectacular International Pisa half-marathon last weekend. Described by the organisers  as one of the few sport events that donates all the proceeds to charity, it's also one of the fastest half marathons in Italy, with a unique arrival including the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the famous leaning tower awaits runners at the end of the race. The popular and talented GB international athletes, who have both battled a spate of various injuries for much of this year, ran the course together and finished well in 1 hour 56 minutes and 50 seconds. Newborough Forest won the virtual World Cup Parkrun Final against North Wales rivals Archive report by Don Hale. Flashback story to earlier in 2020. The picturesque beauty spot of Newborough Forest on Anglesey finally won the epic local derby Parkrun battle over their North Wales rivals Conwy earlier in 2020 to win the top global tourism prize, with both teams recording a record number of votes. In a dramatic 24-hour final staged online, Newborough led for most of the way, and backed by tremendous Island support, fully deserved their victory. Conwy photographs by Michael (Pat) Finnie. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   There was a keen battle for top placings at the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun last Saturday morning with James Yarwood and his twin buggy facing stiff competition from youngsters Finley Potter and Eben Jones. James  (Wrexham AAC) - pictured right - eventually claimed the top spot in 17.02, but he was pressed all the way around this picturesque 5k course by JM11-14 athlete  Finlay  in 17.21, and JM15-17 youngster  Eben  (Warriors Pentathlon & AC) in 18.11. And quite amazingly, the first ten finishers all dipped under 19 minutes!
