The Boxing Day Sea Dip was a record-breaking success for the Llandudno Lions Club with huge crowds, a massive entry of dippers, and loads of money raised for charity.

Over six-hundred fancy dress entrants joined in with the fun and made a huge splash as they dipped their toes into the sea off Llandudno beach, watched by thousands of cheering spectators last Thursday morning for this popular annual charity event, which this year was also blessed by unusually warm sunshine and a bright blue sky!

Well organised by the Lions Club, and promoted by both John Chambers, and MC John Hatton, records tumbled at every turn, with officials confirming that thousands of pounds were raised for their two chosen charities, and for hundreds of other local deserving causes.

John Hatton, (pictured right), who took over the role of MC this year did a great job in keeping the mass crowds of supporters on the prom informed, and entertained throughout the morning, explained: “The fantastic weather attributed to a record turnout at the Sea Dip. It was a long day, but well worth it, starting at 7.30m with a load of us putting everything up, then later taking it all down, but I enjoyed it, as raising money for Alzheimer’s and Papyrus (prevention of suicide charity), are two great causes.”

John Chambers from Llandudno Lions Club also confirmed: “What a turn-out for the Lions Club of Llandudno’s Boxing Day Sea Dip with over 600 entries, and the biggest ever, with thousands of people watching, and raising thousands of pounds for hundreds of charities, including our chosen charities Alzheimer’s and Papyrus.”
