Sam Griffiths was the runaway first finisher at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday where they welcomed 209 club and social athletes, including many visitors from around the UK.
Sam had an outstanding run in just 16 minutes and 42 seconds, with Harry Driscoll (Meirionnydd RC) second with a great new PB of 17.51, and visitor John Brogan (RC Warriors) took the third spot on his debut in 18.06.
*Vicky Cole (GOG Triathlon) was the first female finisher (16th overall), and she ran the course with her husband Simon Cole, and claimed a new PB in 20.38, with Ellie Evans (Cybi Striders) second (34th) with a PB in 22.10, and Katherine Gregson finished third (38th) in 22.26.

*North Wales Road Runners entered seven members at Conwy including: Stuart Culverhouse 13th in 20.22, and he won his VM50 age cat; Paul Aubert 28th in 21.44; master vet Barrie Wells finished 91st in 25.34, and he won his VM70 cat; Rob Fryer was 96th in 25.49, and second in his VM70 cat; whilst Don Hale struggled this week with a niggling injury, and he finished 3rd in the same masters age cat as Barrie and Rob in 28.08; Veteran John O’Shea finished 192nd in 32.23, and super vet Edward Garner ran only his second parkrun this year, but knocked about fifty-seconds off his previous time in 206th place in 35.02.

*Some other notable results from local athletes at Conwy included: 14th Josh Mottram (Colwyn Bay AAC), who won his SM18-19 age cat in 20.27, with club colleague Ian Taylor 37th in 22.26; Mike Pemberton was 78th in 24.38; Liz Evans (GOG Triathlon) 92nd, and she won her VW70 age cat with a good run in 25.40; Peter Johnson 111th in 26.57; Amanda Durber 117th in 27.14; Anthony Howe 136th (Abergele Harriers) 28.57; Lucy Culverhouse 178th in 31.14; Elinor Chapman (Penny Lane Striders) 188th with a new life PB in 32.01; and master vet John D’Albuqerque (GOG Triathlon) finished 203rd in 33.37, and second in his VM75 age cat.

*Prestatyn: The host club Prestatyn RC supplied several pacers at the Nova parkrun at Prestatyn last Saturday which proved popular with official and runners with many entrants achieving some impressive new PBs. The first six finishers all dipped under 20 minutes with Luca Bennett the first finisher overall with a PB in 19.03, with Dafydd Montgomery(Prestatyn RC) second, and he was just five-seconds adrift in 19.08, whilst visitor Joe Duffey finished third on his debut in 19.21.
*The first three female finishers all recorded PBs, including Lisa Lines (Prestatyn RC), who was first with a new PB (16th overall) in 21.19, and visitor Katie Parry (Leeds City) was second (18th) and just five-seconds behind in 21.24, with Kayleigh Williams third (30th) in 22.35.
*Prestatyn RC also entered 23 members and plaudits were given to two master vets including Phillip Rawson Haworth in 86th place, who won his VM70 age cat in 26.33, and Grahame Shone who won his VM75 cat in 31.10.

*Penrhyn: There was a good turn-out of 208 entrants at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun where Rhodri Williams (Cybi Striders) was the first finisher with a new PB in 17.43, and Dominic Perry was second in 17.56, with Aidan Thomasthird in 18.31. *Tamsin Seguin was the first female finisher (6th overall) in 19.49, with Jessica Bibby second (15th) in 21.43, and Anabella Wise third (21st) with a new PB in 22.35.
*Newborough: Andrew Moore was the first finisher at the Newborough Forest parkrun, but he was chased all the way by visitor Jordan Hughes (Middleton Harriers), with Andrew finishing in 18.50 on his debut, and Jordan was only 7 seconds behind, whilst Alberta Orta took the third place in 20.48. *The first female finisher was Victoria Higgs (5th overall), with a relative in VW60 athlete Carol Higgs second (9th), and both making their course debuts in 21.50 and 22.11, with JW11-14 runner Chloe Cattrall third (17th) in 23.32. *There were 158 finishers in total.
