Well Storm Amy came as predicted and whilst it hasn’t totally passed through, it has calmed enough that WE WILL GO ahead with today’s races as planned.
However, it remains windy and therefore would not suggest club gazebo’s being erected.
There’s rain forecasted so be prepared for a ‘proper’ day of cross country. See you in a bit

With Storm Amy predicted for Friday evening/night we will be doing a risk assessment first thing Saturday morning. 
It is predicted that the storm will pass through by early Saturday morning and whilst rain is predicted it is hoped we will have avoided any storm damage. 
At this stage we anticipate the races going ahead but if there is any change we will post here on the NWCCL Facebook page.

First Fixture of the Season

Prestatyn RC and Denbigh Harriers will be hosting the first fixture of the season on a new course at Llanerch Hall. 
The course consists of two fields which in total are approximately 2km in length. The first field (start and finish field) is flat whilst the second field has a few hills, which we will be taking you up and down a few times. The course is all grass, so studs, trail shoes or spikes are required - no vaporfly's!!
The first race in the Junior League starts at 10-30am which is the Under 15 Boys followed by:
U15 Girls/U13 Boys.
U13 Girls/U11 Boys.
U11 Girls.
The Women's Race/U17 Men/M65+ race will start at 1pm and the Men's race at 2pm.
The numbers/wallets will be available from me throughout the day. Please ensure that you allocate someone to collect the wallets. We do not have enough time, especially on the first fixture, to give out individual numbers.
A final reminder that the course is at Llanerch Hall, LL17 0BD
which is between Denbigh and St. Asaph, just off the A525. It is just on the Trefnant side of the Tweedmill Shopping Outlet.
It is signed for Trmeirchion – ignore “Road Closed” sign.
Please DO NOT park at the Tweedmill Shopping Centre unless you are going to visit.
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO CHANGING ROOMS but there will be porta loos and a refreshment van.

Report by Don Hale .  Most photos by Michael Finnie. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   The milder weather last Saturday morning and the fact that it was half-term attracted plenty of visiting athletes to the various parkruns around North Wales, with numerous personal best times recorded.  Visting athlete Ed Slaughter  (Porthcawl Runners) was the first finisher at the  Llandrillo yn Rhos  parkrun with a fast dash of just 16 minutes and 42 seconds, and he led home two other equally talented and fast rivals and course debutants in  Martin Sutherland  (Woking AC) in 17.05, and  Alex Compton  third in 17.46. Report by Don Hale .  donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Two veteran North Wales Road Runners swapped their winter thermals for lightweight vests last weekend as they competed in different road races in warmer climates in Malta and Spain. Kevin Higgins  celebrated his 500th race for the club in the Sliema half-marathon on Sunday after battling with the heat, which unfortunately slowed his finishing time, but he was still pleased to record a memorable milestone. After the race he confirmed:  “I have been road running for the club for the past 35-years, and I finally hit my milestone of 500 races in Malta. Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025 The annual Nick Beer 10k race proved a hit once more with a massive 967 athletes completing a tough course from outside Venue Cymru and around the Great Orme before returning to Llandudno’s spectacular promenade, where spectators gave each entrant a warm welcome on a rather cool and breezy day. The BMAF Council is calling an EGM on Wednesday 4 March 2026 at 7pm. The meeting will be held by Zoom The motion for the meeting will be It is noted that the BMAF executive committee has a large number of vacancies and with just three members is not quorate.  In light of this, the BMAF Council will take on the responsibility of finding and appointing additional people to serve as officers on the BMAF Executive until the next AGM to ensure that the Business of the BMAF can continue. Photos by Michael Finnie and Bill Scriven. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2025   Heavy overnight frost morning forced the cancellation of five parkruns throughout North Wales last Saturday morning, but the surviving  Valentine’s Day events proved a love of running, and especially at Llandrillo yn Rhos, where yet another bumper attendance created a tremendous atmosphere. Despite a rather sandy and challenging 5k promenade course, this event is proving to be a magnet each week for visiting runners – and particularly for elite club athletes - with debutants again accounting for seven out of the first ten finishers.
