Tough challenge for the Road Runners at the final Coed y Brenin Winter Trail Race...

Eight North Wales Road Runners competed in the tough Coed y Brenin 7-mile Winter Trail Race last Saturday and recorded some excellent results amongst the 449 finishers.

This final event included some challenging terrain with some stunning beauty and was run along single tracks and footpaths through the Coed y Brenin Forest Park, which left a sting in the tail!

Benjamin Brummit led the NWRRC team home in 36th place in 57 minutes and 7 seconds, and it was a close encounter for Sion Thomas and Steve Bozier, with Sion 81st in 63.43, and Steve 86th in 64.17. And it was a similar story for Steve Poupart and Rob Haines, with Steve finishing in 117th place in 67.37, with Rob just one place and seven-seconds adrift.

Dave Jones also ran well, and he was 147th in 70.21, with Vicky Taylor looking towards her best again in 358th place in 90.29, and Carol Moss was 362nd in 91.51.

After the event, Steve Bozier said he had to battle with a few muscle problems enroute and he later explained: “What a great place to run, but unfortunately, I had to overcome some calf cramps during the first two miles, but I managed to get through this and was pleased with my result.”

*The first finisher overall was Tomas Black (Mynyddwyr de Cymru) in 45.02, and Tom Roberts (Meirionnydd RC), was the runner-up in 45.59, with Aled Breeze (Maldwyn Harriers), 3rd in 46.19. *The first female finisher was Tinka Vinks(Eryri Harriers), in 53.04, with Ellin Haf Roberts (Eryri Harriers), 2nd in 53.53, and Alice Walton finished 3rd in 56.35. There were 449 entrants.

And there was another bumper turn-out by club and local athletes, plus plenty of visitors, who this week enjoyed an almost sand-free 5k promenade course. Track champion Steve finished second at the Welsh Duathlon championships

Track champion Steve finished second at the Welsh Duathlon championships. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog International track champion Steve Gardner finished as the runner-up on the podium in the prestigious Welsh Sprint Duathlon Championships at Pembroke last Sunday. The NWRRC member, and GB track athlete, who was representing his second claim club GOG Triathlon, competed in a 5k run, a 21k cycle race, followed by a final 2.5k dash, and he finished second overall with an excellent combined time of 1 hour 12 minutes and 31 seconds. After his event, Steve confirmed:  “Just a note to let you know I competed for GOG Triathlon Club today, finishing in 2nd place; 1st place went to  Tim Parfitt  in a time 1 hour 12 mins and 31 seconds, and the 3rd spot went to  Steven Gee  in 1 hour 13 mins and 17 seconds.  “There was only 46 seconds between the three of us, so it was a...

Road Runners galloped home at the Chester 10k races Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog Five North Wales Road Runners completed  amongst a very large field of some 7,315 entrants at the Chester 10k race last Sunday, and they all performed well and recorded some noteworthy finishing times. Veteran  Jon Evans  was in top form, and he finished strong in a good chip time of 47 minutes and 44 seconds, and he led the team home with  Molly Evans  next in 49.32.   *Jon Evans (*above left) with  master vet Rob Fryer. And it was good to see  Kelly Alford  back in action again, and she also enjoyed her run in 49.38; with master vet  Rob Fryer  continuing his purple patch in 54.59; and  Vicky Taylor  ran home in 77.12.  *And there were plaudits too for  Mandy Owen  who finished in 66.17.

He was followed by  Gavin Roberts  (Calder Vale RR) in 34.10, and  Rhys Goodrick  (Vegan Runners) in 35.02.  And the first female finisher,  Bronwen Jenkinson  (29th overall) secured a unique double victory for  Eryri Harriers , with another fine performance in 41.06, whilst  Suzie Richards  claimed the runner-up spot in 42.57 (34th overall), with  Jessica Evans (36th overall), an...

The meeting will be held by Zoom The motion for the meeting will be It is noted that the BMAF executive committee has a large number of vacancies and with just three members is not quorate.  In light of this, the BMAF Council will take on the responsibility of finding and appointing additional people to serve as officers on the BMAF Executive until the next AGM to ensure that the Business of the BMAF can continue. They are essentially at each end of the Cayley embankment, one near the slipway approximately 400 m from the start and the second approximately 1000m from the start. Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026   It was wild, wet, and windy for over 1,000 athletes at the Anglesey 10k and half marathon events on St David’s Day, last Sunday morning, with the majority of entrants tackling the longer race distance over a challenging new course.
