NW Road Running trio tackled the unusual Pentir 4.5k Trail & obstacle race...

Three NW Road Runners competed in the midweek Ras Hwyl Pentir 4.5k Trail Race and fun run last Wednesday night and enjoyed the experience at this slightly unusual but friendly village event.

Described by the organisers as a “fun run on quiet roads and fields from the heart of Pentir,” the race surprisingly attracted 105 finishers, including numerous top club and fell runners, over a short but challenging obstacle course.

Jamie Tharme continued his recovery from injury to finish in 16th place overall in 21 minutes and 1 second, and he was 2nd in his MV40 age cat.

Endurance athletes Ben and Sarah Ferguson Hudson also ran well with Ben in 18th place, and just six seconds behind Jamie in 21.07, and he claimed 3rd place in the same cat as Jamie, whilst Sarah finished 35th overall, and the 9th female in 23.25 and she was 4th in her F40 age cat, and just missed out on the 3rd age cat spot by a mere two seconds!

Jamie later remarked: “An evening trail run, but what an unusual race that was, with trail and stop and start, and having to open about ten gates, over an odd distance. I was the 12th male and 16th overall, but I enjoyed it though.”

And Sarah added: “An awesome race, and a great little trail event.”

 

*The race results confirmed that it was a clean sweep by Eryri Harriers for the top three male finishing place, and also for the top two female placings. The overall race winner was Ian Edwards (Eryri Harriers) in 17.02, with Ieuan Belshaw 2nd in 17.56, and Aled Edwards 3rd in 18.37. Gemma Moore was the 1st female finisher in 19.18, with Anna Drinkwater 2nd in 19.27, and Emma Alofs (Cybi Striders) 3rd in 19.44.

Report by Don Hale. donhaleblog.blogspot.com/2026 coastandcountry.blog   North Wales endurance athletes Ben and Sarah Hudson were back in action again last weekend at the Run Cheshire Huxley 5-miler - and a bit race – as part of a warm up for their forthcoming marathon training. Ben finished in 131st place in 36.07, whilst Sarah was 165th in 40.15.  After their run Sarah confirmed:  “A fab morning at the Huxley 5-miler, with a few extra miles thrown in for good measure. Peter, who was additionally representing his Basingstoke & Hants club in the MV40 age category, first ran in a Southern League Athletics Division 1 track meeting at Tooting Bec on 19/8/23, where he set a new record of 4 minutes 19.71 seconds.
