Six of the best for GOG Triathlon members at Conwy parkrun.

Report by Don Hale.

Six GOG Triathlon members claimed podium places at the Conwy parkrun last Saturday with two first place age category wins, two second, and two third placings.

Steven Owen (*pictured right) finished 12th and he was the first club man home in in 21 minutes and 11 seconds. He was followed by Simon Cole in 16th place in 22.00, with Gary Jones 26th in 23.11, and Jack Buckley ran well and claimed a new course PB in 34th place in 23.40.

Super veteran athlete Liz Evans continued her excellent form to win her VW70 age cat in 71st place in 26.00, and Nicola Tomlinson finished in 113th place in 28.47, and another top super vet Ann d’Albuquerque finished just behind Nicola in 28.49, to claim the 2nd spot in her VW70 cat in 114th place.

Amanda Collins enjoyed a good run in 139th place with a PB of 30.54 and she was 3rd in her VW55 cat. Wayne Roberts also celebrated 3rd place in his MV60 cat in 31.57, finishing in 154th place.

And Katie Harvey was just 15 seconds and two places behind Wayne in 32.12. Veteran Liz McIndoe finished in 162nd place, and she finished 2nd in her VW60 age cat in 33.00, whilst Andrea Cody ran home in 35.10 in 184th place overall.

*Club numbers were slightly down at Conwy parkrun last weekend due to numerous competing fixtures, and many athletes opting to take things easy in readiness for races the following day.

The first man back home at the parkrun was Jacob Watson, who narrowly held off a determined challenge from NWRRC’s Steve Forsyth on his return to action, with Jacob eventually finishing just 5 seconds ahead of his rival in 17.53, with Rob Evans 3rd despite a PB of 18.37.

The Ladies event was equally competitive with Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers), finishing as the 1st female athlete in 19.37, with clubmate Anna Drinkwater 2nd in 20.38, and exciting local junior runner Ella Grundy (Colwyn Bay) 3rd in 22.00.

*Praise was given to the Conwy run director, and to all the volunteers and marshals, who made the parkrun event such a success. This is the link to the provisional results:
