Welsh Master David Gibson has completed winning a unique hat-trick of silver medals in three World Major Marathon events this year!

This is an incredible achievement for this extraordinary Master Veteran, who competes for Wales Masters and his club Tri Hard Harriers, and has recently returned home following his latest success in the New York Marathon.

This is David's exclusive story:

As a Welsh M70 Master, I competed in the 2025 Age Group World Marathon Championships at the recent 2025 New York Marathon and came away with the M70 category Silver Medal.

Tackling this race just six weeks after getting another M70 Silver Medal at the 2025 Berlin Marathon, and four weeks after a M70 win in the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon was always going to be tough, especially as the New York Marathon is possibly the hardest of the seven World Major Marathons.

The time of 3 hours 17 minutes would have won Gold in most years but the standard of world class competition in this age category continues to rise. Nevertheless three Silver Medals in three World Major Marathons in 2025 is an achievement that I find difficult to comprehend!

I was very lucky to have my daughter (who is also a Welsh Master) run the whole distance with me providing support and encouragement. This made the experience even more special.

As the oldest Tri Hard Harriers club member, I sincerely hope that these results on the world stage will inspire some of our younger members.
